Bellissimo percorso gastronomico

While staying at the parent hotel of Mimesi, Dimora Palanca, we were under the mistaken impression that Mimesi was a “hotel restaurant,” and for that reason, we initially decided not to spend one of our few nights in Florence dining at our hotel, despite the fact that all the food we had eaten at the hotel was great. But, fortunately, after a very long day of exploring the city, we were too exhausted to venture back out and decided to try it out. Best decision!
The restaurant is beautiful and very comfortable and looking at the menu, which is a prefix tasting menu (you can choose 5, 7 or 9 courses), we immediately realized we had vastly underestimated its sophistication. My husband enjoys the multi-course, Michelin-eque type experiences where as I tend to find them a bit stuffy. Mimesi is a perfect balance of delivering that high level of quality, taste and creativity, without feeling uptight. They happily work around dietary restrictions and truly aim to please. Before our tasting menu even started, we were already floored by amazing and beautifully presented selection of amuse-bouche, breads and spreads. Each dish we tried was so lovingly and thoughtfully prepared and the staff was amazing. To say we were well cared for is a huge understatement.
At the end of the meal, the chef, Giovanni, came out to thank us and offer us even MORE dessert. It was wonderful meeting him and seeing the palpable joy he got from his work. Don’t be fooled by the lack of reviews (it is brand new!) or the fact that it is hidden away in a little hotel- Mimesi is everything you want from a fine dining experience and nothing that you don’t. Delicious food, great value, incredible staff, amazing experience!

A truly elegant restaurant, perfect for a special occasion. Just a short walk from the train station, Mimesi was a tranquil haven set away from the busy streets. I loved its welcoming atmosphere, I felt like a VIP guest in a private Florentine villa. Prepare for an evening of gourmet delights, each course presented like a dish of edible art. Every plate seemed to tell a story, colours, textures and tastes all brought together harmoniously. The atmosphere was effortlessly sophisticated and the fabulous restaurant team who saw to our every need - the wines were unusual and intriguing yet perfectly paired. My absolute favourite dish on the 7 course tasting menu was the onion, pecorino and beurre rouge, simple ingredients exulted to the height of gastronomy. Watch this space as chef Giovanni Cerroni is definitely making waves on the Italian restaurant scene.

Florence's best kept secret! This place has recently opened but is on its way to greatness. A quiet and intimate setting with delicious tasting menus and a fabulous wine list.
