No Soy Paper...But Best Sushi Bar in Albuquerque. This inconspicuous, corner sushi bar is attached to a Chinese restaurant. The tiny, well-decorated space is cozy and authentic. You truly forget you're in Albuquerque while the employees converse back and forth in Japanese.
I sat at the bar to watch the chef cook and it was great to watch him perform his art, as he truly pays attention to every detail. The special rolls are some of the cheapest I've come across in all my years of having sushi. All of the ingredients are fresh, (which is more than I can say for 80% of the other sushi bars in Albuquerque). The flavor combinations are excellent.
My only concern is that they do not have soy paper as an option, which rules out me bringing along a few guests who aren't accustomed to the nori. However, I believe Sushi-Hama is the best sushi bar in Albuquerque, good prices considered. Even if the rolls were more expensive though, I would still be a very frequent customer.
I need to come for happy hour... I came in for lunch with a friend the other day. We had one of their combination sushi entrees as well as an assortment of nigiri. The fish was fresh and delicious. The portions of fish for the nigiri was big, and it was obvious that they aren't your typical sushi joint that skimps out on the customer to save a buck. Excellent value. I'm curious to come back in for happy hour and compare. I'll be back quickly because I'm already craving another round here! I reccommended it to anyone looking for a great sushi fix.
Don't judge a book by its cover. First, i've passed this place many, many times, and pretty much ignored it due to the way it looked from the outside. After hearing about it, I took a deep breath and a chance, and entered. It was a very small place, but the sushi was quite good and fresh tasting. I ordered the sushi lunch combo and with 1 sushi chef, it took a little time, but all the nigiri sushi tasted great and the roll (simple California roll) was good, as well. The miso soup was tasty and the simple cucumber salad was refreshing. Overall, it was a very positive experience. I will have to try their happy hour for sushi one night. I recommend this place highly, especially for those in the NE heights area.
I like sushi hama, although the sushi chef doesn't seem to be very friendly, the food is awesome! I cant think of any other restaurant in town with .99 sushi.
I Love Sushi Hama. I have tried every sushi bar in town, some of them are not bad, I am kinda tired of paying sush high prices.
But Not since I discovered sushi hama. its very fresh, and affordable. the place is kinda small,but they do provide sushi to the Chinese restaurant located next door. Best thing is the happy hour from 5-8, half price sushi menu. I have never seen a better deal in albuquerque. I'm from california.

Small, but Great, Everything i go to sushi hama the food is fresh. everything I have tried has been good, but I love the sushi the most, if you go after 5 but before 8 you can get half price sushi, only a dollar a piece, WOW where else can you get Great sushi for that price. Good place for Sushi. I have never been disappointed by quality, and the price is lower than many that serve lower quality sushi. Love the asparagus roll. Small place, shares building (and bathroom) with Chinese place next door. No fancy decor, and basic atmosphere.

The sushi at Sushi Hama was better than normal. The service was good. The place itself smelt a little like sewage which was kind of gross. And unfortunately when we went to the restaurant there were children screaming and trying to climb the fish tank. This was of no fault of the restaurants, but it definitely didn't make my experience there any better. I would like to try the restaurant out again and hopefully have a more pleasant time. I LOVE this place! I see all these bad reviews and i think they need to give this place another chance. Yes, there is only 1 server because its family owned, but she is very nice and does her best to get to everyone in the restaurant. As a server myself (who also works as the only server at a sushi place), it is difficult to serve many people at once. I go for mainly the sushi, and it is the best! The salmon is my favorite. People who go in for "teryaki" or "california rolls" are going to always be disappointed at any restaurant because restaurants like this focus on actual authentic food. So go in and try something new and delicious! (:
Food is always good, service is always ok. Prices on the low end of high. Moderately priced for sushi in Albuquerque. I eat here a lot because it's convenient, and I've never had a bad experience.

I recommend Sushi-Hama to those who come to enjoy the SUSHI and aren't concerned with overpaying for their trendy surroundings. What I love about Sushi-Hama is the fact that it is a little hole-in-the-wall. You won't be disturbed by the other diners, and you won't be broke when you leave. You will be full of high quality sushi made by one master sushi chef who works there every day (I don't know his name, unfortunately). If this sounds like your kind of joint, I highly recommend it. My husband and I won't go anywhere else.
