I came here for Baltimore restaurant week with my partner, and it was a wonderful experience. The servers and host were friendly and attentive, and the service was quick despite how busy they were.
For the first course, I went with the strawberry and spinach salad; it was easily the best part of the meal and I would recommend it to anyone. Second course was a set of lamb tacos paired with chilled black beans, also very good but the flavor was a little lacking compared to the salad. Finished with the berry tart; it was fine, but as I was eating it a server walked by with an ice cream sandwich paired with a bottle of milk; if I had another chance I definitely would have tried that!
The formerly derelict mansion has once again been beautifully restored. Linda & Steven Rivelis have spared no expense, updating & revitalizing even the smallest detail.
The Ambiance, the Experience and the Food are all outstanding. The Team at The Elephant go above & beyond to cater to your every need. Some things are handled before you may even know you need the attention. As in the complementary glass of Muga Rioja Rosado 2014 with my Mussels Frites; since we had already ordered a bottle of outstanding Malbec, the Rosé was a perfect little bonus that made the meal even that much more delightful.
The upstairs lounge & bar with the famous 32' Italian Marble bar top are another world entirely, devoting a separate visit just for this level is duly warranted.
Very upscale, not affordable for anyone on a budget but definitely worth it if you're feeling like splurging a little. Or, Restaurant Week is your best bet. The building is fantastic and elegant, the food was phenomenal, and they also filmed House of Cards in this location! Win-win all over!
