Well hello-hello. Definitely 5 stars. I see no reason why not. Very small place, probably family owned, due to the interior, restrooms organization feels like someone family premises 🙂 Japanese place owned by Japanese people. Very good / kind/ attentive service.
Definitely number ONE to try is Avocado Bomb, they have it made with different fish- tuna, salmon and do nit remember the rest. Every roll you’ll order you’ll taste first grade freshest fish. I may also recommend Udon for those like noodles.
Located in heart of bayside on bell boulevard, not to far from public parking. Good place to keep in your to go to list.
I should say it’s pricy.

Chef and owner of Mickey’s Place, Michio “Mickey” Moroi has been serving up great sushi for well over two decades now. Housed in a tiny spot, opposite the LIRR in Bayside, Queens, Mickey’s Place never fails to satisfy a craving for sushi.

It definitely beats all its competitors in and around Queens by serving really solid, good, Japanese food.

There isn’t much ambiance at Mickeys, though the narrow space is decorated in bright colors. The emphasis is all on food. Don’t go during “rush hour” times as the kitchen just can not keep up. Weekdays are better than weekends and pick-up or delivery, is always a great option.

The service is warm and friendly as Mickey and his wife Jennifer make a winning team.

Be sure to order the Luba roll when you go – it’s my absolute favorite!

"Hidden treasure" with a cult-like following.... The decor won't blow you away. The parking situation is not ideal. But who cares? The sushi is awesome. When you get to know Mickey and Jennifer a little bit, eventually, they'll give you a "Mickey's T-Shirt". Usually you see a few people wearing their years-old worn out Mickey's shirt for their big Mickey's dinner, like you'd wear a Reggie Jackson jersey to a Yankee game. Strictly via word-of-mouth, this place has built a super-loyal fan base, freinds telling friends about this great "discovery" and they in turn sharing with their friends. It really has a unique cache about it, unlike almost any other restaurant i've known. The spicy tuna is unique unto Mickey's, never had any quite like it.

Manhattan quality sushi.... At Bayside prices. My favorite dish is the salmon bomb which is grinded salmon marinated in ginger and encased in avocado slices. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. The owner, Mickey is anal retentive with his fish. Anything quasi-old gets fed to the alley cats.

A long Time Favorite!. When Mickey's was in Forest Hills, I used to eat here once a week.

The new location in Bayside is much nicer. Mickey and Jennifer have always served delicious fresh quality sushi at a reasonable price. The Bayside location carries on with the tradition.

Mickey chooses his fish carefully and it is always excellent. Some of my off the menu favorites are Salmon Gyoza, Clams, Spinach and the Fresh Cooked Fish. Alot of people really like the Lobster Roll and the Bombs. I like the Uni Ika Sashimi (always excellent in season), Giant Clam, Saba and the Toro. Ask your server (they will ask Mickey or Jennifer) for recommendations. I usually eat at the Sushi Bar and Yen and Weda are always helpful. Yen makes a special custom Spicy Tuna/Jalapeno Hand Roll for me.

They have an excellent reasonably priced Sake List.

Worth the drive, see you there!

My wife and I had our first date at Mickey's at their original location on Queens Blvd in Forest Hills. Ever since then when ever we wanted sushi we would go to Mickey's and never be dissapointed. Fresh, tasty, and Oreo tempura...delicious. We eventually left Forest Hills and moved around a bit before settling in Bayside. Wouldn't you know that our favorite sushi place moved with us as well! Located right by the Bayside LIRR station, Mickey's us a great stop for tired commuters looking for a reasonably priced, delectable, fresh sushi dinner. Jennifer and Mickey (always with a bandanna) are always ready to greet with a smile. The spicy tuna, Luba roll, and eel are all top notch as well as the traditional individual pieces. Salmon, crab, and tuna are my Favorites. Perhaps surprisingly, the Udon and beef negimaki are quite good. A treat not mentioned on the menu is a "lily bomb". If you like avocado with your sushi try it. The presentation alone is worth an order. There is a decent sake collection, and they have the requisite beers on hand. The perfect end to the meal is the oreo tempura which is out of this world. My only gripe is that when it gets a bit crowded the service slows down considerably. The wait staff is mostly spot on but the younger members appear to get overwhelmed and forgetful at times. As far as I am concerned not a major roadblock to having a fantastic, authentic sushi dinner in the heart of Bayside. Bon appetit!

The food was great and everything was amazing, especially the miso cod found on the special appetizer menu. This was my first time here and definitely had a great experience. This is a smaller "mom's and pops" type place, but these hidden gems are where you'll usually find the best food. Kudos!

Honestly this is the best sushi in Bayside. Actually it's the best sushi I've ever had and I travel a lot. Mickey, who is the main chef, is super nice, friendly, and easy to talk to, as is everyone there despite their thick accents. The whole atmosphere here is very authentic and comforting. Is the sushi expensive? A little, but you get way more than you pay for, it is obvious everyone working really cares about what they do.

Best authentic sushi in Bayside hands down. The owner and staff are very friendly and the fish they use is always fresh. You can taste the difference. They really put 100% into the presentation and taste of their food. You owe it to your self to try this place out! The avocado bombs are amazing!

Awesome sushi! Thanks Mickey! Reminds of sushi in the late 90s when the owners really tried. Don’t avoid the rest of the menu either. The noodle plates are good and the appetizers are really good. Know what you’re stepping into, its a family place; flip flops and babies will be part of your evening - and you’re 15-20miles from Manhattan so don’t be precious, its Bell blvd baby, have a drink!

Looks like the sushi joints in the village.... Decoration is pretty authentic looking. The sushi is pretty fresh... Had the chirashi and it was delicious!!! Their salmon rolls are very fresh and full of salmon YUM!! This is a small restaurant, yet it is cozy. Worth visiting over and over again.

Hands down the best in NY. No fancy American hype straight up the freshest fish you can get. Been going here since their first location and nothing has changed food wise. They will tell you this fish is only today it's season is ending, never frozen unlike others. Try the Lilly bomb as a starter, it will blow up your tastes buds!

They’ve got the freshest sashimi on Bell blvd hands down, been going here with my family since they opened here, and speaking as a Japanese person, I really love to come here. It’s got a homey feel and in the winter the udon is the best!! I feel that a lot of these hip Japanese restaurants are kind of overshadowing this place with all their social media clout but Mickeys has been a staple here on bell for a long time!

Whoever wrote this! "This is actually a Chinese fast food joint masquerading as Japanese food." Must have NEVER been there. Or was TRIPPING while they were there. This family owned restaurant is a authentic JAPANESE restaurant with some of the freshest seafood and great flavors all around. Have been a regular patron for the past 15 years and never disappointed

This place is off the hook good and to make things better the owner is Japanese. All of the fish is great and hand rolls are highly recommended. My personal favorite hand rolls are the yellowtail and eel with homemade eel sauce, another is the softshell crab with spicy crab, lastly the salmon with salmon roe hand roll. Make sure you eat these fast because the rice is warm and the seaweed will be crunchy.

I have been going to Mickey’s place since the late 90’s before they moved to Bayside. Jennifer and Mickey are by far the nicest people. The sushi is absolutely mouth watering and to die for !! I always get my usual two seafood salads , hold the salad along with some rolls.I can’t say enough about this place !! A must go for sushi !!!
