THIS IS THE PLACE!!! Carmen, the owner and primary cocinera, and Toby, the service manager, make Carmelita's Mexican restaurant a great dining experience. When you walk in the door to this traditional style Mexican restaurant in the Bellaire area, Toby greets you with a big welcoming smile and is happy to escort you to your desired seating location. Within minutes the beverages, homemade fresh salsa, and chips are on the table and your order is taken. Back in the kitchen, Carmen , performs her expert magic creating your "comida" masterpiece. My specialty burrito was prepared to perfection. From order to meal service was only 10 minutes!! We ate all we could of their generous portion and saved room for the banana empanada dessert. WOW!! The rest of our meal was put in a to go box to enjoy later. Here you are always welcome and catered to like the best of friends. Thank you, Carmen and Toby, for a wonderfully unique dining experience.
I was very surprised at the quality of the food I received. The initial chips/salsa basket was pretty bad. The chips weren't even worth a picture because they were so stale and flavorless. And the salsa was just as forgetful. But when I had my enchiladas it was a total 180! They were absolutely delicious! Order the chicken fajita with refried beans and an extra cheese enchilada. I cleaned my plate and left very happy. So for all that plus a Dr pepper came to $15 and for the flavor of the food definitely worth it.
Amazing, welcoming service. I ate there for lunch with my 3 year old and the server and runner both interacted with her and talked with her when servers at most places ignore her. Lunch specials are a great value and come out very quickly!
