Good service, specialty coffee took longer than expected. I liked the food. Tomato Basil soup was a little acidic for my taste but once adding some sugar to cut it, the soup was much better. They have a special with half Quiche, soup and salad or pasta for 10.99. Offers fresh bread for free. There's strawberry and blackberry preserves of sorts to pair with it. I didn't get a dessert but they looked lovely.
Still tasty after all these years. La Madeleine in Bethesda is an old favorite... charming and rustic: the inexpensive food is worth the trip any day of the week. Delicious soups and salads and yummy desserts make for a lovely respite... the warmth of the fire completes the ambience. Good value for money in otherwise expensive downtown Bethesda.
The croissants from la Madeleine are some of the nicest I have ever had.
The French Breakfast was both wonderful and satisfying. The galette was a pleasant surprise. I was completely satisfied for most of the day.
The quiche was not only massive but sublime in flavour and flaky in crust.
The cafe americano, similarly, had deep flavour and a well rounded taste, not too brash and yet robust.
If you find yourself in Bethesda you simply must make the time to enjoy at least a coffee and croissant from la Madeleine!
This is like a French Panera. I prefer the Gaithersburg location but this location is also good, albeit less clean. The food though, is still good, and I like getting their shrimp pesto (the freshly cooked bread was amazing)
Lovely place, I loved the atmosphere and the staff are friendly. The taste of the pastry is amazing! I also loved the coffee. I recommend trying the croissant.
This is my favorite spot to go relax and have a nice lunch or sweet treat. Has a very nice warm and inviting atmosphere!
Stumbled upon this cafe browsing downtown Bethesda. Delicious pastries and omelette with self-serve breads in a cafeteria style setting. Yes, I fumbled at first but they read my confused look and guided me along the line. Worth it. Perfect for a light Sunday morning. Enjoy!
I love Bethesda and La Madeleine's is icing on the cake. Good atmosphere, good service, good food!
Great food and atmosphere (2/25/17)
This place is so cool! Very well decorated, you feel like you're in a true French countryside cabin. Very cozy. The food is phenomenal! I highly recommend the French toast but be prepared for an awesome twist from the American style of the dish. We visited this place when my friends were in town and they ended up buying some Croissants to take home. I will absolutely be back to La Madeleine!!
