The atmosphere was so nice! A nice little cozy restaurant with such nice staff and amazing food! I went for the first time a couple days ago and it was so good I had to come back the next day! I ordered the lunch box special both times and it was amazing!
Aji Nippon has been open over 30 years. I grew up eating their food as what I know to be Japanese cuisine and having been to Japan and back, I am glad that it was. The decor, the music, the attention to detail in their food. Amazingly brings a real piece of Japan to a random little spot in Bethesda.

A very cozy tiny restaurant! Their botan ebi is the best. Been coming here for the past 5 years and their quality remains outstanding!
Wonderful little place for that "melts in your mouth" quality sushi. Also at a fair price compared to other overly priced fancy places I encounter. You have to try their spicy tuna roll. It's the best I've ever had. It's a mom & pop establishment, which I'm always a big fan of supporting. Friends and I have dined here over many years, so I'm somewhat confused regarding the other negative reviews posted. So judge it for yourself.
Low key place with some of the best sushi around
One of the best Japanese places in Bethesda. It's a very small cozy place owned by husband and wife. A very friendly, and quiet. If you know what Japanese food should taste like, this is the place for you. It's good for families and on dates. They're slightly on the expensive side, but certainly worth it. Authentic Japanese restaurants are rare, but this one certainly is authentic. Would recommend it. Have recommended it and those who went there based on my recommendation loved it and became regulars. It's one of the cleanest restaurants. If you don't believe it, watch how the chef (owner) works behind the counter. One of the best.
Peaceful atmosphere, great sushi and kind waitstaff. The fish was extremely fresh and and the quality was superb. At a little less than 7.00 a roll for how good the sushi was I am very impressed and will definitely go back again for lunch.
I had the eel, salmon, and tuna and all of them were great. Spicy tuna is usually my stand when I’m craving sushi but I have to say the standout ones were the eel which was fantastic and the smoked salmon which was really really good and not too salty, or too rich.
When I finished I didn’t feel bloated or overstuffed like you end up at some sushi places... the portions were perfect and the sushi chef was a master of his craft
The food is always perfect quality, and the waitress is super accommodating and kind. The restaurant is small, quaint and simple, but the food never disappoints. The plates aren’t large, but I suggest taking it slow and enjoying your order before jumping for something else on the menu. Their recipes and menu items are pretty authentic too, and don’t necessarily cater to US palates. Recommendations: salmon bento, tempura, veggie udon noodle soup, and their appetizers.
Went here for Valentine's dinner. Very intimate. 🥰Sushi was spot on! We were blow away by the Udon, beef dumplings and ginger ice cream 🍨 🍜 🍣 Highly recommend this gem and we will be back!
Great hole in the wall restaurant. The sushi was fresh and tasted amazing. Well priced and great ambiance. Highly recommend stopping in here if your looking for a good Japanese restaurant!
