This is my families favorite place and we have been coming for years. If you never had Afghan food, give it try! The food is so flavorful and delicious. This is the best Afghan restaurant in the DMV! Had it twice in the last two weeks and can’t wait to go again.
Terrific service and the best Sabsi and Mantu I've had in a long time.Thank you!
Probably the best stew I ever had. Fresh house bread tastes awesome, kabob wasn't that great, but stew covered everything I didn't like!
Salad served with a special sauce that tasted different and looked really fresh.
Prices are relatively high, but I think worth the money.
I just ate pumpkin with ground beef and yogurt sauce. It's shockingly extraordinary. Delicious. The soul reason I scowl at Jack O'Lanterns. (I wish I were joking. You've GOT to try this!)
I've been eating at this place for years now, and it has to be some of the best Afghan food I've had in the states. It's a bit on the pricier side, but you're paying for quality ingredients with love and care put into the dishes while supporting a family owned business who love their customers.
Every time I'm back in the area I make sure to hit this place up at least once. Get some Kadu while you're there (Pumpkin and Beef), SO GOOD.
Amazing local find. We have been here twice and have been blown away by the food and service. Sonya, the owner's daughter, took time to go around to every table to make them feel welcomed and ask how their week had been going. She took the time to tell us about the establishment which has been a family owned business for 39 years. Some of our favorite dishes we've tried so far have been: Ausk, Chalow Kadu, Chalow Sabsi, Mantu and Anushak. Will certainly return for many more amazing meals. Thank you to Sonya and the entire team for a fantastic experience that felt like being welcomed into a warm and loving home.
Came from out of town and had such a great experience. Food was awesome (save room for the rice pudding!) and the staff are warm and friendly. Hope I can get out to Bethesda again soon.
This place is amazing! The interior could use some updating, but don't let that sway you. The Auscak (scallion dumplings) are a treat to start the meal but be prepared that they look more like a ravioli than traditional dumpling. Last 2 trips this month the Sabsi Goushti (lamb with spinach) was incredibly delicious. The surprise was the Kabu (pumpkin) which was sweet and savory. Rice pudding was a perfect finish. Service was attentive, friendly and informative.
Delicious food and fast, friendly service. The decor isn’t fancy - white walls, tile floors, Afghan textiles and pictures - but to me it’s comfortable and fits an Afghan restaurant. I had aushak (scallion-filled dumplings topped with meat sauce and yogurt). My friend had quabili pilau (lamb, carrots, and raisins over mildly spiced rice).
One dominant spice in our party's 3 entrees- cardamom. If you like it, this place is for you. Service was excellent and food was well prepared.
Excellent exotic dishes served in a fine restaurant manner with cloth napkins, full water glasses and complementary salad.
Cozy family atmosphere. We will go back again and again.
I loved it! Had lamb with spinach and basmati rice. Most delicious, lean and tender lamb I have ever had. Spiced perfectly. Friendly staff. Thanks Vianca!
