Amazing service, cozy ambiance and most of all delicious food. The shrimp curry crepe is to die for. I highly recommend. Only down side is Cash only accepted.
Pates & Traditions is a quaint, charming corner cafe that looks like a slice of the French countryside. It looks like it was decorated by a French grandma with lots of kitchy French items covering almost every inch of wall space. The decor works well mostly because matches the theme and style of the menu perfectly. The service here is warm and accommodating. We went for brunch — around 12pm on a Sunday and there was no wait to be seated; unlike many other places in this neighborhood where the brunch waits can be 1 hour plus. The menu features about a dozen themed crepes, and a handful of omelettes, french toast, and a couple traditional French dishes. I had the “oeufs Perigord” ($16) and my mouth was in heaven. Eggs are baked in a crock with mushrooms and cream, then topped with chunks of foie gras. 🙀 The foie melts into everything and you have a yolky, creamy, foie mix which is perfect spooned onto toast. The flavors and textures were amazing to me — i was so happy to discover this dish. My boyfriend’s crepe came filled with potatoes and was topped with generous chunks of Camembert ($12). We shared the French toast ($9) and it was some of the nest we’ve ever had. Custardy, crispy, a bit sweet, it was the perfect share item. The portions are modest and the prices are very reasonable for what you get which is nice. We cant wait to come back for more — especially in summer, when they have outdoor seating on this still quiet corner of Williamsburg.
Really enjoyed my time in Pates et Traditions. It brought back great memories of the romantic French atmosphere you can only find in that country and the cuisine is a good carbon copy as well. It's July, and their AC works great during those hot and humid evenings in Brooklyn. The staff have French accents which adds to the ambiance and the menu options are traditional as the name states. We ordered an appetizer and Kir with prosecco. I recommend the peach and cherry Kir. During our time the staff played traditional romantic French music. Overall I'm very impressed with the atmosphere, quality of the cuisine and price. BRAVO Pates et Traditions for bringing France to Brooklyn.
