Luv this place! I come here quite often, service is outstanding, and the food is excellent! The owner has greeted us on many occasions.
Excelent service and food!!!!
Really like it. This is the best Japanese restaurant in the area. Everything was great. I've been a few times and I've had the teriyaki salmon, sushimi, sushi (forgot the name of the rolls, but they are all good), and the soup. That teriyaki salmon was so delicious! I recommend this one highly.
I was reluctant but so glad I went! Their tuna lover's roll is unlike anything I have had. This Canadian can't wait to get back to have it again.
Sushi D is the first date we’ve ever been on as a couple. It is a quaint place where couples or friends can come to enjoy a meal while catching up on old times. The service is good and fast. You don’t have to wait too long for your meal. The fish is fresh and melts on your palate. I believe we fell in love after this first date.
The sashimi and sushi were really good. Fresh and nice cuts. Appetizers were good, had a bunch of them and the sake was on the money. Only hit was the wasted green space...a dry one piece of lettuce. That was for the eye. If it's to eat give enough to eat, if it's for the optics, make sure it looks visually appealing. Anyway, small stuff...the place is fun and the staff is GREAT.
Fast service, good quality ingredients, and reasonable prices. The side order eel sauce (not the eel sauce on the sushi) tastes kinda like banana though which is weird. Overall I recommend, $40 for 6 tasty rolls. Pictured: eel avocado, salmon avocado, shrimp tempura
Sushi D is a neighborhood stalwart on the busy DeKalb retail stretch between Fort Greene and Clinton Hill. It's best for casual sushi cravings (rolls) and online orders. The dining room is a bit dark and there is outdoor seating on the patio. Finding a table has been very easy on my last two trips. Service is par, with orders taken promptly and the kitchen responding quickly, but water glasses may go unfilled if the servers are backed up with online orders.
What I've ordered:
Avocado Cucumber Roll (good)
Shrimp Tempura Roll (good)
Pork Katsu Don (just okay)
Nabeyaki Udon (took a long time but very tasty)
Vegetable Tempura (broccoli, kabocha pumpkin, sweet potato, taro, lotus root)
Chirashi sushi bowl (good)
The menu is too large, spanning hundreds of items. It would take a long time to try it all.
Where Sushi D lacks in ambiance, they make up in kid friendliness and availability.
many many good appetizers at great prices,
tasty sashimi & more...
Casual with class - fresh food and friendly staff!
Their Fried Cheesecake is the best thing ever
The California hand rolls were awesome, and the shrimp tempura, so beautiful I didn't want to eat them
I really like this spot. Staff has been great. They've got good vegetarian options, affordable prices, and plentiful outdoor seating.
The temperature of the food makes all the difference between it being good vs. downright delicious. The rolls - sushi and vegetable - are made fresh at room temperature, and I like it. I would recommend trying the Sweet Potato Roll and the Eel and Avocado Roll.
