The food was really good, it was served right after being made. Their house tea was also to my liking, although I would recommend to ask for a sample before ordering because the flavor can be a bit strong for some people. My only complaint would be the lighting at night. During the day the place is well lit, but after sunset it is a bit too dim and it makes it a bit harder to read the menu. Overall though, great food and friendly staff. I enjoyed my time there.

Wow!! I've eaten at world class restaurants everywhere from San Fransisco to New York, and I want everyone in the RGV to know that Bara Exotic Food is secret gem that definitely made my TOP 10 list!! First of all, their menu is incredible. My mouth was watering just looking at it and I could hardly decide what I wanted to try. Secondly, the food did not disappoint. Simply delicious, wholesome, healthy and super flavorful! I can assure you that if anyone says the food here is bad, then they are just a picky eater who doesn't know what good food should taste like. Bara is definitely the place to go for all of you foodies, and we are so lucky to have an incredible restaurant like this in Brownsville. If that isn't enough reason to try Bara, I will also note that the service was fast and extremely friendly and the portions were very generous (which considering the great prices on the menu I did not honestly expect such big portions). I had enough to fill up for dinner and take some home for lunch the next day. Please do not pass up this great restaurant! P.S. They also make a delicious herbal tea that everyone should try!

I went in around 5 on a Monday, so it wasn't very busy. The staff was nice and gave me plenty of good options to choose from. I started off with the Tiger Bite braised beef tacos. It has a steamed bun as the shell instead of a tortilla. The bun was an soft and delicate vessel for the strong beef within. The cucumber was perfect for cutting into the fattiness of the beef. Overall the dish felt very light and really is more of an appetizer that a main dish. The next course was the Spicy Korean Beef Ramen. My favorite part of any ramen is the eggs and they cooked them right there (yolks still semi-liquid). The beef in the bowl was sliced thin and was kept tender with a really nice flavor. The spice level was similar to medium spice Thai food I've had. It really reminded me of this spicy Korean soup I've had rather than ramen as the broth was a bit more acidic than rich. Lastly for desert I had the Sakura Blossom. They are like small moist, steamed cupcakes. They weren't overly sweet and had a slight floral taste as well. The star was for sure the tacos (I heard they won an award for these) and desert! Next time I'd try another main dish even though this one was good. They mentioned the Pad Thai is popular.

We have been in Brownsville for 7 days. It is amazing how many mediocre restaurants one city can have. We were beginning to lose hope. In a city of 2s, Bara is a 5. Small, modern, no frills interior. We were greeted immediately by the only server in the place. She was sweet, efficient. We perused the menu while we munched on fried puffed...I want to say shrimp chips. (Reminded me of my childhood). The menu is rather small but includes some of the more popular dishes from Indonesia, the Philippines and Korea. My husband ordered lumpia to start, rendang rice for himself, I ordered the Kare Chicken Katsu (Javanese) and the Mee Goreng for our little one. The lumpia was hot, fresh and delicious with the sweet sauce. My Kare Chicken Katsu was next to be served. It was tasty, albeit a little bland. My husband and daughter were served and we were not disappointed. The Rendang Rice is spicy, full flavored and delicious. The sambal chile sauce only added to it. The Mee Goreng was sweet and chewy. Tasty and well seasoned, my two year old dove in and did not make a peep until she was done. This will definitely be first on our list of places to eat on our next visit to Brownsville, if not the only place. Locals should definitely check this place out. Dare I say that Bara might have me looking forward to our next stay in Brownsville.

.Menu looks really interesting, food is filling and very tasty. Fried meats had a very nice, thin crunch. Grilled meats were tender. Guy at the counter was friendly and offered a great recommendation. The Ambassador's plate was awesome, and the Char-Siu was good as well.

I was surprisingly impressed by the food here. This is a small place in a strip mall so I wasn't sure what to expect. The menu is an assortment of Asian dishes with dishes from Indonesia, Korea, China, Filipino and Japan. I decided to go with the "Ambassador Plate". It comes with a variety of tantilizing items including a spiced egg, rendang, curry chicken, steamed greens and a green sambal. While the egg and sambal had a bit of heat to them, it wasn't overpowering and there was a lot of flavor to go along. Waitress was friendly and service was good. I would definitely recommend this unique place!

I was very satisfied with not only the amazing flavors of the food, but the environment was awesome! Chef Marie came out to check on us and explain how she makes the Asian Fusion in her dishes! Highly recommend!!

WOW! Food was delicious! The owners are extremely nice and masters of their craft. After watching Mark Wiens I had to have the Satay. This is what was left of my Pork Satay. It was delicious, juicy, sweet and tender. You have to try this!

Went for lunch. Portions are pretty big. Everything seemed fresh. I’d go back. Had their Pad Thai. I liked it. Chicken & shrimp. I liked the way they prepared the shrimp - but there were only 3 little ones on the plate. Noodles and sauce were good though. I’ll go back.
