We had a birthday party in the upstairs room and everything was wonderful! The food and drinks were delicious and very reasonably priced, the service was top-notch as we had a dedicated server, and the owners were very accommodating to all our needs and requests. We needed an extension cord, got it. A staple gun? Got it. A fancier-than-usual setup of silverware and table settings? Check. All this at no extra cost, even the rental of the room! THANK YOU so much to the staff and owners for making our even extra special!
I had a wonderful experience at the Historic Palm Lounge , the service Excellent, Taylor was great and very helpful and professional yet down to earth, the Music the best ever Emilio Crixell and Charlie Harrison, woohoo yeah baby will recommend it to all my family and friends , a Brownsville resident who moved to Austin in seventy four who as a kid passed by the palm lounge all the time
I was impressed, had the avocado burger and was very good. My sister had stake tacos and enjoyed it. Would have been 5 stars but someone was smoking in there. Thought that wasn't allowed and the waiter allowed it.
Omg if you are here for the bar food you will be very happy! Drinks were ok. Service was kinda slow. I would gladly come back again.
My wife and I have been trying out some local spots downtown. We had heard some great things about this place, and we were not disappointed. We came on a Sunday evening and they had the game playing which was nice. A few tables of customers, but it seemed very relaxed. Our server was great, friendly, and in good spirits. He kept checking on us. We will definitely be coming back again.
The parking in downtown Brownsville is horrible and that’s not their fault.
We showed up early afternoon and there was one other table.
The place has been completely reinvented from the dive bar it used to be.
I ordered shrimp tacos and my husband a shrimp plate.
My tacos were good.
The shrimp was breaded with a mix of corn meal and flour. They were perfectly seasoned and cooked, not chewy or overdone.
The tortillas for the taco weren’t as warm as they should have been, and the rice was not to my hubs liking.
The green tea was refreshing.
The service was not very good considering we were one of 2 tables.
I had to go the bar and ask for refills and they forgot our water.
I gave them 4 stars because the shrimp were very good. I’m a shrimper’s daughter and I know those were gulf shrimp done right. We will be back and try one of their hotdogs which I hear are amazing.

The vibe was nice!!! I only tried the Palm Lounge appetizer and everything on it was good. I would give a 5 star, but I didn’t order from the burgers or dinner menu. I will come back. The service was a 10. Love that they have draft with 5 choices and plenty of bottled beer. Super chill and nice music.

Great Food, Great Music, Great Time.
I’ve been here a few times, and each time been equally impressed. Drinks are made to order, and the beer is ice cold. Each meal ordered came out hot, fresh, and delicious.
I highly recommend the “Brunch Burger”, though bring an appetite! This burger is massive.
Excellent restaurant. I had never been to the Palm Lounge. The Palm Lounge was a little bar with inexpensive beer mostly. This bar had been around in downtown Brownsville forever. I was apprehensive about visiting but was pleasantly surprised and would definitely recommend. As you walk in the lightning in low. The restaurant uses dark colors and is quite old fashioned. For a moment The Palm Lounge makes you forget about everything going on outside. It transforms day into "your time." The food is exceptional. I honestly highly recommend.

The Palm Lounge is a historic downtown restaurant and bar. They are known for their delicious burgers, my favorite is the jalapeno burger. I also very much enjoy their jalapeno poppers, which are stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in bacon then served on a corn tortilla like a taco with grilled onions on the side, amazing. The micheladas are good too!
Update: Had the Seattle-Style Dog today, it was great. I also tried the ceviche tostada, yummy 👌🏼
