Interested in a dive bar with amazing polish food?
If yes, this place is for you. It's not big (think 5-10 booths, a few tables, and a bar), but that's not what you're going here for. The most amazing woman who makes, by hand, pierogies, cabbage rolls, and as I was told a great fish fry on Fridays.
I arrived here for lunch, and was treated to an amazing meal and an unexpected but welcome conversation with Lottie. Such an amazing time that I was not expecting.
This was a wonderful place to visit. Both exterior and interior look like a dive bar at first glance. While it may give that appearance, do not be fooled, the R&L Lounge is a mom and pop shop like no other! The pierogies were handmade by Lottie in the back and were absolutely delicious. My finance and I were there for my birthday because of the wonderful reviews I'd read and it lived up to the hype. In fact, Lottie was so excited to hear it was my birthday that she made a point to play "Happy Birthday" on the jukebox and sing along with excitement. Her and Ronnie made us feel right at home and as though we were family. It's somewhat slow for lunch but I can imagine a lively group of regulars during the dinner hour and in the evening. I cannot speak highly enough....we will certainly be back whenever we have a craving for pierogies and warm company!
Another experience off the bucket list! Had heard about the R & L since I was a kid. Like walking into a time machine when times were simpler and happier. Ronnie (Roland) and Lottie were great. Made me feel like I've known them all my life. Had the sampler plate for lunch, pigs in the blanket and pierogies. DELICIOUS! Old time prices too! Will definitely be back to the R & L Lounge.
