The staff was very friendly coming in. They sat us down quickly and we had our food cooked in front of us. The food was delicious. It was my first time trying their soda which was good. The kids loved them. The sushi was delicious. The place is cool. They have a bunch of Funko pops from anime near the register. They have take out. Their decorations are very cute. When in carlsbad I will definitely good back.

Appetizer: Technically, it's listed as a "side order" on the menu, but the calamari was fried perfectly with this light and airy breading. The two sauces that accompanied the calamari were great: one was a cocktail sauce, and the other had a little heat and spice to it. I really enjoyed Tokyo's take and version of calamari.
Hibachi: I ordered the chicken and filet mignon option with the fried rice. For the Carlsbad area, tough to find anything better. Every element from the chicken, to the filet mignon, to the fried rice, to the veggies were all delicious, prepared well, and made with fresh, quality ingredients.
Sushi and Sashimi: Not pictured, but all the shrimp tempura sushi rolls I tried were great, and the salmon sashimi was my favorite among the sashimi I tried.
Like many other small businesses, it has been tough to find enough reliable, dependable employees and staff, so please be patient and gracious with the service and enjoy all the delicious sushi, hibachi, side orders, drinks, and desserts that Tokyo has to offer the Carlsbad area.
My fiance & I went & had dinner. We chose to sit at the grill station. I ordered the Hibachi Shrimp Dinner. It came with sired shrimp, fried rice with veggies along w/ the onion soup. I also ordered the house special roll the Spider Roll. My fiance had the Dinner combination, Steak & Shrimp. I had some of his steak it was so juicy & tender not to mention the char it had was delicious. If you have not came here yet you need to try it out!!! We will be returning soon!
Ordered the blacken dragon roll and the spicy tuna roll..this my go to spot for sushi in Carlsbad. The hibachi is also very delicious and entertaining..
1st time visitors wife and I got on the grill table. Damn this place is I got to say really good. I can give 10 plus stars if I could. The place is a little outdated but don't let the looks fool you. Great customer service the chef did a quick nice show while cooking our food and very well served. Priceless I'd say. Highly recommend 👌
Great service, sushi rolls were delicious, I ordered the snow crab heaven roll and it was just ok, my husband ordered the Phoenix roll which tasted way better. We also ordered fried rice with vegetables and chicken, I thought it was expensive but it was a huge plate enough for 2 or 3 people, I also ordered the hibachi plate for kids and it was a large plate too. The miso soup was very good.
The vegetable sushi roll was amazing. The spring rolls were nice and crunchy. I would definitely recommend this place. Can’t wait to visit again. 🍱😁😁
