Fantastic place to eat! I had spicy tuna poke and a spicy tuna roll, both were delicious. He had the surf up platter with lobster and it was also superb. Staff were friendly, service was fast, and great attention to detail for social distancing!

We went to Benihana"s using their generous birthday coupon which gives the bearer $30 off a teppan meal. It's a great deal because most of their meals are five or six courses for under $30.
I had the hibachi scallops which were delicious, if a bit smaller than those I had for my birthday last year. The other courses were a salad with really good dressing, their signature onion soup, a shrimp appetizer, and grilled onions, peppers, and squash slices.
We added on extras like extra scallops for $11, mushrooms for less than $5, and spicy rice instead of the white rice that comes with the meal. They also served their signature dipping sauces.
As the birthday girl, they also brought me chocolate ice cream with whipped cream and a lit candle, accompanied by the staff singing happy birthday to me.
I did not mention the artistry with knives performed by the chef tableside because we sat on the patio to improve social distancing.
Normally though, I have eaten inside where the entire meal is prepared right in front of you. The chef is talented with knives and it is very entertaining for the whole family. Little ones that normally fidgit through restaurant meals will find the chef very engaging.
My first time here came to celebrate a family members bday & what can I say I really loved it the food tasted delicious! Timmy our chef was awesome, funny, and nice! We enjoy our time here & will definitely come back. I also liked how they took a picture of us & gave us 2 copies. Our waitress was actually really nice & patient with us explaining everything to us since it was out first time she went over the menu on how to order. 5 stars!
Food was DELICIOUS! Chef was awesome.. really friendly, chatty and fun!
Host at the beginning wasn't great, she left us sat in the front for 15 minutes even though we had made a booking and arrived on time, didn't offer us a drink at the bar like she did to people who came in after us. Our waiter was a bit inexperienced also, not knowing what multiple drinks were. Had to ask 2 waiters for soy sauce to eat my sushi. Happy hour is also misleading and not very clear on where it is available within the establishment.
I would highly recommend for the food only, service needs improvement especially for the prices you pay.

Love the lunch steak, chicken or salmon boat! Best deal in San Diego. Free hot tea. Excellent service, always great food. I visit the bar about one a week for a quick lunch or a lunch meeting. The gift card deals with 20% more in gift card is a great deal.
Our chef Steve was awesome! Was more of the show that eating out. Enjoyed it so much! Definitely will be back. Highly recommend. Food is delicious 😋
Our chef (Johnny) was friendly, personable, and just an all around nice guy. He gave us a great show and he's very talented with the utensils. Our waitress (Kristen) was fabulous. Served us with a smile and was on top of it. Never had to ask for refills and was prompt in clearing the dishes and just a very nice girl. Best experience.
Always an entertaining time. The food is great! It's on the higher side of pricing (around $25) for a meal but it includes soup, salad, and entree. The chefs are entertaining and make some jokes. The collectable porcelain cups are a great souvenir
