A few years ago when Burgerhaus opened Downtown on The Canal I went and was not very impressed. Actually, it was so disappointing that I haven’t been back since. Just so happens I had to spend a few hours in Carmel yesterday and discovered that there was another brand new one up there. Decided to give it a try - Wow!! I had “The Aussie” - thick cut bacon, smoked Gouda, lettuce, tomato, mayo and a fried egg. Absolutely outstanding! One would think that all of the extras would overpower the burger, they didn’t. The burger itself was perfect, meaty , juicy and the star of the show. I was quite pleasantly surprised. Add to this a nice sized craft beer and cocktail menu, nice decor and extremely friendly waitstaff, and this place has rocketed to the top of my burger restaurant list. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.

I just visited this restaurant this evening. I had the chicken sandwich (in place of a burger) and my husband had a regular burger. He thought it was one of the best he has had. The fries were also excellent - much better than most of the fries I have eaten. Also, our waitress, Kayleigh, was awesome and even split the Valparaiso salad in half back in the back so that my husband and i could split it prior to our meal. They were very accommodating. I was very impressed. We will be back.

The burgers we’ve had here have been delicious-the variety & generosity of toppings is great too! The side salad option is SO awesome-thank you for being there with a healthy side! The fries are some of my favorite too & I like that they don’t overload your plate with fries (there’s already so much to eat with the burgers 😋) Service has also been speedy & friendly the couple times we’ve been!
