Barrio Fiesta Restaurant Chandler

I've lived in the East Valley since 2007 and I love Sushi. The sad thing is I cannot believe I have never even heard of Masa Sushi until today. This is some of the best sushi I have ever had! The choices are too numerous to list. For an appetizer I enjoyed the spicy edamame. They were hot, not warm, when they arrived at the table. I had to let them cool a moment before trying them. The flavor, the sesame seeds and the heat combined was magnificent.  But be warned, if you really want to bring the heat, you'll have to dig to the bottom of the bowl where the wonderful flavor is hiding in the broth, sauce or whatever that is they put on them. I also ordered the Yellowtail roll... my favorite sushi. It was sweet and soft, just like it should be. And paired with Avocado it was a great match. The Red Dragon and Crunch Roll combo was a little mystifying but good nonetheless. With a name like Red Dragon I thought the roll would be spicy or hot (I didn't really read the ingredients) but it was sweet instead. As was the crunch roll. A bit of a shock at first, but oh so delicious. I asked if they had grated wasabi instead of the light green horseradish that is normally served with sushi and to my surprise they did. And they weren't stingy with the amount they gave me, which was good as I love real wasabi. To top it off, it was the hottest grated wasabi I have ever enjoyed. The restaurant inside looks nothing like what you'd expect standing in the parking lot. When you step in you see beautiful shiny black and red decor, wood tables and black chairs, a fabulous sushi bar and you're greeted almost immediately by a happy face. Joy was my server and was truly amazing. She was friendly and knowledgeable of the menu and quick to let me know what was popular when I asked her. She was very helpful and checked on me at least five times during my short stay. Just a fantastic atmosphere, great service and out of this world food. If you want amazing sushi at a reasonable price, Masa Sushi is the place to go. This location is on the SEC of Elliott and Alma School in Chandler. They have their original location in Gilbert and my whole family will be trying that one soon. Masa Sushi is number one on my list for sushi in the East Valley.

Masa Sushi has a few locations. Gilbert and Guadalupe and the one at Elliot and Alma School. They both have a small soup and salad with dinner. They used to have cute little desserts that came with the dinner, but stopped that hopefully only temporarily. The one at Elliot and Alma School I would give 5 stars to because the manager/sushi chef will occasionally do awesome chef specials upon request where he decides for you. He used to be at Gilbert and Guadalupe but moved to that location...he is sorely missed by those that frequent the Gilbert and Guadalupe location. Elliot location more like a dimly lit restaurant with awesome service. Guadalupe restaurant I would give 4 stars to now, its more casual and cosy for a casual date, very affordable, with both indoor and patio seating; perfect for the Saki Bomber crowd but sometimes service is awesome at thst location and other times staff seems to be doing busy work opposed to tending tables and they have to be flagged down. Love the dragon roll, jalapeno roll, una don and salmon rocks there. Picture was a chef special on Valentines Day at Elliot location.
