I went to Marie's for the first time to see my old friend Carl Ruiz for his birthday but sadly I missed him. I wasn't planning on eating alone because I brought a great bottle of wine to have with Carl on his birthday but again he wasn't there. I noticed they had brick oven roasted chicken so I ordered it and wow let me tell you... forget Boston Market forget any Market forget Costco forget any one of those roaster chicken places with all the chickens in the back spinning on those rotisseries. This chicken is da bomb!!!! It had a taste unlike any roasted chicken you get at those places it was truly homemade and had that unmistakable flavor I almost wanted to order one to take home but I thought it would give me a good reason to go back to see Carl when he is there. Did I mention he wasn't there.? It's hard to catch that guy but I will try again in the near future and if nothing more just for that chicken. Even if Carl isn't there the chicken will be there and that will be worth the trip alone. #HappyBirthdayCarl #BrickChickenRules
Just wow! This place is delicious! Yesterday my boyfriend and I went and ordered so many things to try them all! The mac and cheese is a must order! The fried prosciutto on top is amazing! The rice balls are also really good! We ordered to sandwiches to split and both were absolutely delectable! We got the chicken parmesan sandwich and the sacred swine (without the broccoli rabe). My goodness I don't think I can decide on which one we liked better! Also, while we were there, Chef/owner Carl Ruiz was there! He went around to each table to make sure everyone was happy and that their meals were to their liking! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone!
I'm gonna explain myself the best way I can like if you grew up in a Italian family in a Italian neighborhood and your mother was 100% italian you will get this, if not come to Marie's chicken joint for the greatest homemade chicken noodle soup since your mommy made and the italian style hot dog is just as good as the famous Dickey Dee's in the beautiful City of Newark, I couldn't be more happier or satisfied with my choice of coming to Marie's
Ordered many times. Chicken is fresh, tastes like home cooked meal. Same with burger, that is cooked perfectly with juice coming off.
The Italian Hot Dog is superior than Jimmy Buff’s in every way except for the potato

My fiancee and I arrived 15 minutes before close and asked for a fast and quick recommendation. Proceeded to have 2 of the best fried chicken sandwiches we’ve ever had in our lives! Watched the fresh chicken get breaded and fried right then and there. We were very happy and will be coming back for more soon.
At first you might be skeptical. Dimly lit, no AC, floors are sticky. The guy who took my order(the only person working) might come off disengaged. Stick around. Once I placed my order I heard him lay a fresh piece of chicken in the fryer and then proceed to carefully put together the best chicken sandwich I ever had with precision and passion. If you are looking to sit and socialize go to the nearest cafe but if you want a damn good sandwich come here. I will be back shortly.
A little place in the midst of a strip mall. This out of the way place was like finding a diamond in the rough. It's not a fancy place but the food and service were great. I ordered a burger and and fries and they were good. The lady behind the counter, who I assume was the owner, was by herself. It took a while for her to prepare my order but it was worth the wait. I think there was indoor dining as well as most places in NJ have at least limited capacity. The prices are fair and I would definitely recommend this place. Stop in and enjoy. 😋
We unknowingly arrived about 10/15 mins before it closed but the woman at the counter still took our order with a smile. We ordered the Carolina and Supreme sandwich with a side of crinkle fries. The sandwiches were AMAZING!! The chicken was juicy and crispy, the pickles were fresh and the sauces were so good. The fries were also deliciously crunchy and salty. I’m really glad the woman still accommodated us (folklore tacos a couple stores over did not) because we just discovered our new favorite spot!
Best service you can get considering the small staff, good portions and affordable relative to the area. Food is insanely good, probably my favorite chicken spot. Took me awhile to actually go for the first time but I'm a frequent customer now. Their entire menu is great, definitely try the chatham chicken bowl
I’ve had many chicken sandwiches in my lifetime, but I’ve never had such amazing high-quality chicken that this place has to offer, absolutely amazing food, highly recommend
I got to sit and listen to my order of chicken cooking in the fryer from fresh. Tender in the middle, crunchy breading on the outside. Subtle but tasty tarragon gravy and a pile of real mashed potatoes. 2 pieces of chicken turned out to be 2 whole, full sized breasts.
Everything was really good! Great menu, very reasonable prices.
