my family has been going to the 18th st location since the early 80s. we were very saddened when they burned down and have not found a suitable replacement since :( we have visited canton regio which the guiterrez family opened up across from the old nuevo leon location, and loved it. we never realized that the 26th street nuevo leon is owned and operated by the same family so when we found out they were indeed related and had a similar menu we had to pay them a visit! we were not disappointed as the food and atmosphere were great and the service was impeccable. i had the bistec a la mexicana con papas which was served with fideo and frijoles de la olla. the meat was very tender just like the old nuevo leon and the inclusion of potatoes reminded me of a family recipe that i love! the fideo and frijoles de la olla were also excellent as well as the tortillas de harina. we cant wait to go back and try more of our old favorites as well as some of other menu items that the old nuevo leon did not have. i recommend stopping by if you like northern mexican style cuisine and miss the old nuevo leon. the lady managing the restaurant (Laura) and the rest of the staff were extremely attentive and came by several times to make sure everything was ok.
The owner the staff and the service truly awesome ...the food so good highly recommend the restaurant. We felt like family and we had relatives in town they were very impressed also with the hospitality and the food.
Thank you so much.
We visit Chicago and decided to go there because my parents live in Ohio and there's really not a good Mexican restaurant in Ohio I'm coming from Dallas Texas so we eat Mexican food all the time! We went to have dinner at Nuevo Leon and returned the the next morning for breakfast the food was awesome and good friendly service too
