Delicious!
I want to go back and try other menu items.
A friend of mine suggested Betta's. I've honestly never heard of it. After agreeing , as I'm always up to try a new place we made it for lunch hour. A plus in my book is a parking lot!!! Which they have free parking in the rear.
I decided to try the Italian super sub. It's was delicious. I didn't ask where they get the bread, but it was very fresh.
The sub came with chips and I added a side salad. My friends steak hoagie looked amazing . All in all service was good.

I want to return to try a wood fired pizza.

My good friend Holly invited me to this quaint, friendly, superb, Italian family restaurant located in Norwood, OH early in the Summer 2016.  It was my first-time ever sampling of the best Italian food I have ever eaten.  Betta's occupies first place, second place and third place ... all three of the top ratings  for a completely divine culinary experience.  please don't forget to request Betta's original, palate-pleasing, lightly-spirited, beverage, with a blush of delicious fresh fruits of the day ... Lemonata ... as a companion to their excellent fare.  It is a definite REPEAT dining experience for me .. the sooner, the better!

Best steak hoagie I have ever had. Much like their garlic bread the bread is so nicely done. Crisp, flaky and light. The spicy relish is perfect, just a great sandwich.

The antipasta was also delicious and my wife liked the eggplant parmesean but thought the pasta was so so.

Desserts were good but not memorable.

UPDATE 20150813: Prices have gone up sharply and although the previous prices are still shown on the menu on their website, they will not honor them.  Quality seems to have dropped a bit as well - though I admittedly have only re-sampled a few dishes

UPDATE 20150108: after hearing Peyton Manning sing "chicken parm you taste so good" for about the ten thousandth time, I did go get a chicken parm sandwich (currently 7.95) from Bettas today. Same bread and same sauce at the meatball and sausage hoagies, but the chicken is not good. Avoid this sandwich. Also, they wanted 50 cents to add onions to the sandwich, which is sad.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: A lot of italian eateries around Cincinnati have a meatball sub/hoagie/grinder, and some of those also offer a chicken parm, but very very few - perhaps a dozen or so - offer a sausage parm sub. Basically the same as the meatball sub - meat, cheese, red sauce, onion, usually peppers - except the meat is italian sausage. I have spent the last month trying nearly every sausage parm sub available in greater Cincinnati, and can now say with certainty that Betta's has the best in town, hands down.

The mild/sweet italian sausage itself is made in-house, with lots of fresh herbs visibly speckled about in it, and is served in this sandwich as 2-3 inch cuts of the roughly inch to inch and a quarter diameter links. It has a great flavor all by itself, but the tangy and slightly chunky tomato sauce (also made in-house) that I believe is also used on the pizzas here adds a lot to the overall flavor profile of the sandwich. The sub roll is sourced locally - I believe from Giminetti's Bakery but they wouldn't confirm or deny - is puffy and light with a nice outer crust, and is thoughtfully cut like a boat (the ends are not cut) to help keep all that saucy goodness from spilling out the ends while you eat it. Onions are added if you like, and the whole thing is topped with provolone cheese and baked til the top of the cheese has browned slightly. Each of the parts are very good individually, but the sum of the parts is even greater. Absolutely delicious.

I have had this sandwich 3 times in the past month and it has been excellent each time. I have also tried the meatball sub, made more or less the same way and on the same bread with whole large made-in-house meatballs, and it too is very, very good.

Most of the other spots I tried gave me just the sandwich itself, but Bettas throws in a handful of ruffled potato chips and a pickle spear to make it a meal, which is much appreciated.

The size and price of these two subs is pretty consistent to the size and price of these same subs available elsewhere locally.

The 10' thin-crust pizzas coming out of the wood-fired oven that can be viewed right at the takeout counter look really great too, but I am having a hard time ordering anything but one of the subs.

One very minor quibble: most places included bell pepper in their sausage parm sub, either in the menu description or free of charge upon request. Bettas does charge extra for bell peppers to be added

Ate here for the first time today. Very good! Authentic italian dishes, good wine selection, amazing desserts and the youngsters in our group loved their pizzas as well. So good to see a small business doing so well1

Nice neighborhood hole in the wall.. I had driven past Betta's many times and heard the reputation. We happened to be in Norwood. Dropped in and we were greeted in a friendly genuine manner. We had lasagna. It was good not great. Too much sauce. The pizza was very good. Not the best I have had but in the top 25%. We had the diavlo pizza. Nice little kick. Great crust and good sauce. Our server Briana was very efficient and upbeat. Wine by the bottle is best value.
I would go back.

Pretty good overall. I got the fettucini alfredo with chicken and my son the meat lasagna, which came with a salad as it was the special. My brother in law got the steak hoagie. First, this place is small, but clean. We sat at a small table near the front. The atmosphere is fairly nice. The service was average/good. The salad was pretty decent, although it could have used more in it. It was pretty much lettuce and dressing. It was a spring mix. The ranch dressing was good. The fettucini was pretty good. Not the best I've had, not the worst. The chicken was just ok, I'm not sure that the chicken was fresh. It may be pre-cooked or store bought prepared. Overall I give it a C+. The lasagna my son said was good. He gave it a B. The hoagie was good and my brother in law gave it a B. They need a choice of mushroom or pizza sauce for the hoagies. We got some cheesecake to go (they are huge). It's New York style, which is always good. Not sure if they make it in house. I forgot to ask. Overall I give them a B. I would go back.

Amazing Pizza. We recently hit up Betta's based on their best pizza rating and it definitely lived up to its reputation and rating. If you are looking for chain pizza you will not find it you will find authentic thin crust pizza with great flavor. Everyone seems to knock the service, but we had good service. Not sure what you would expect from a small family owned casual restaurant don't expect 5 star service when dining at a pizza place.

It's been a few years since I had visited Betta's Italian Oven. It used to be located in Mt Lookout, much closer to my office. We went there this evening after visiting someone at UC Hospital. What a great choice. My daughter had the chicken parmigiana, Gramma had the Eggplant parmigiana, and I had the Councilman's pizza. I had forgotten how excellent their pizza was. The Neapolitan crust was super thin and crispy. The cheese was great and the toppings fantastic. The others enjoyed their dishes. We had the amaretto cream cake and tiramisu for dessert. Highly recommend going to this restaurant. Service was fast and did was excellent.

Amazing Italian sandwiches. I don't know how they make their bread so perfectly crisp and chewy. Love the hot relish, it really compliments the sandwich.

The beef sandwich was delicious and ample. The Greek salad was also bountiful and is in the fridge for tomorrow along with half of the sandwich. Put them on your regular list.

They were down several staff members, but we're extremely kind and pleasant nonetheless. They knew we had someplace to be (our daughter's theater performance at XU) and made sure to get us out in a timely manner. The pizza was delicious. The tiramisu was absolutely phenomenal...I would go back for that alone...seriously, never had a better dessert! Can't wait to go back!

I love their food. I've already been here a handful of times. Small Italian neighborhood restaurant. The phyllo chicken is amazing, used to be on menu, now a weekend special. It was available during our weekday visit. Very good Chicken Parmesan. They are also well known for their pizza. Definitely will return.

Our family took a trip to Cincinnati in 2019 and came about this place by simple word of mouth while walking around. We came in, had an absolutely fantastic dinner (pizza was excellent, service was even better) and even spoke to owner Will for about 10 minutes as we were leaving - he treated us out-of-towners like we were regulars. We’re headed back to the area next month and will be stopping by again for another dinner.

I have never had a bad meal at this place!! Thank you to the Betta’s family for keeping it the real deal! Sorry for no photos.. my food is gone by the time I remember I want to leave a review.

Went with friends on a lazy, rainy Saturday night. It was my first time, but I will definitely be back. Shared a pizza for an appetizer and it was amazing. The entrees and meatball subs we had were great as well. Server was great as well refilling drinks and making sure everything was going well without being smothering.
