Friendly staff and owners, reasonable prices, generous portions, good vibe, and great food. A Columbus institution. Don't expect to eat healthily, and prepare yourself for the inevitable post-lunch tenderloin coma. Not exactly vegetarian friendly. But good people making good food.
Food was good. They were out of lettuce & tomatoes for my tenderloin, and it really could’ve used it! Other than that the food was good. Cashier was pretty rude, I heard her telling someone she was new, but that’s no reason for her to be rude. I would let her go.

Shorty’s, home to probably the best Tenderloin in Town. This is an awesome lunch spot and is one of the best joints in town!
Arrived at 12:30 PM on 11-27-19: It wasn’t too busy and it has a similar vibe to Ye Olde Fish House. The lady who served us was very friendly. There were a ton of side options to choose from. And all of them were very tasty. The cashier was also friendly and loved to chat. I had the Tenderloin (of course) with mashed potatoes and god it is SO GOOD. We loved the homemade brownies they had as well
This is an awesome spot that is reasonably priced and has awesome food! This is a must visit if you’re trying Tenderloins across Indiana! I will return.
The diviest of dives, but it's great. Just ignore the sticky floor. Definitely one of the best tenderloins in the county. Watch the cooks at work while you place your order. Huge servings. No need to get the meal; the sandwich will fill you up. But great onion rings and good mac n cheese. Don't get the cheese on your tenderloin unless you get it to go and those give the slice of American time to melt.
2-17-19 I had the tenderloin sandwich today for lunch and it was excellent. It was moist and delicious. I had to take part of the stacked meat off to be able to fit the sandwich in my mouth ! It was the best I've had in a very long time. My friend had the cheese burger and said that it was the very best she ever had ! We will definitely be going back to Shorty's. A lot for your money and the people were super friendly too.
Great food with a small town atmosphere. A place where you are always greeted with a smile when you walk in and there are the regulars that are there all the time. All the food is great but the tenderloin sandwiches are the best. The price can't be beat as well. If you are tired of the big chains and just want a place where the food is good and you can feel welcome...this is your place!
A Columbus original. Gone for a while but now under new ownership. However, the same recipes are used and the menu has remained the same, to my knowledge. Been there multiple times before and after, haven't noticed a difference. And that's fantastic. I've yet to have a breaded tenderloin beat the ones I've had here. It's a tiny, simple, very old building, surrounded by Cummins, whose workers frequent the establishment at lunchtime, my father included. I haven't been on a Wednesday with the new owner, but if the menu days are the same, they have hot baked apple pieces in this syrupy cinnamon sauce, and you can get vanilla ice cream on top for a little extra. No guarantees there, though. Even if not, this place is well worth the visit.
Not the healthiest but definitely the best comfort food in the area.
