Great Texas BBQ at decent price. Had brisket and sausage with beans and potato salad.
Brisket had a good smoked flavor with a nice smoke ring. The meat was tender and moist as it should be. The sausage was great as well. The beans were outstanding, but I wasn't a fan of the eggy tasting potato salad.
The burgers looked delicious. I'll have to try that on my next trip
Best ribs we've ever had! Considering that's my husband's fav meat & we've had it all over the South that's saying a lot! Not too much smoke, very balanced flavors - letting the meat shine. Beans were amazing, coleslaw was very good. Only disappointment was the potato salad. Hope to return.
Yum Yum Mesquite Infused BBQ. Living in California I had to get my Mesquite on while visiting Texas. The brisket was deliciously and thoroughly infused with Mesquite smoke. The rub was a little spicy, and therefore needed only a little sauce to moisten. It was slightly dry, but I loved it just the way it was.
I still have the lovely taste of the mesquite in my mouth mingling with some delicious iced tea.
The slaw was crisp, fresh, and light.
The potato salad was mustard forward just the way my mama used to make, and I had to lick the container 'to get every last drop of flavor.
Only one little suggestion: serve the meat at a little bit higher temp to bring out the full flavor.
If I stay in Texas much longer I will get fat! Best barbeque in the world. It must be the locally grown Mesquite, because it has a unique flavor that cannot be duplicated anywhere. It is an art and lifestyle I miss so much living in Cali. I never learned how to do it, shame on me!
I will definitely be back!!
While spending spring break on North Padre Island, my friends and I decided to enjoy a Tuesday lunch at Texas Mesquite BBQ before hitting the sand and surf.
Two of my friends had eaten here before, but this was my first time. I was impressed with the fast and friendly service even though the restaurant was quickly filling up with hungry spring breakers. The atmosphere was casual and inviting.
I believe I have experienced baked potato Nirvana. The Texas Tater loaded with meat is probably the best I have ever eaten. Plus, they have excellent soft tacos and BBQ nachos. This is a filling lunch for a day at the beach.
Good sides. The bbq beans, gr beans and homemade fries were excellent. We enjoyed the sausage, brisket and pork. The turkey was dry.
One of the best bbq places ive ever tried. Great menu. Great mac and cheese. great brisket. Delicious!
We shared a three meat two side plate and everything was topnotch except the sliced brisket, it was pretty chewy. We even asked for moist end. The sausage was very good. The pork ribs were just as good. The onion rings were made to perfection. The pinto beans were full of flavor. I was walking around taking pics and several regulars and employees pointed out the vampire deer head mount.....I'll post a pic of it....cool!
Texas Mesquite BBQ is now called Diana's, and they've still got all your favorite meats by the pound: sliced or chopped Brisket, chicken, pulled pork, sausage, and pork ribs. Classic sides are available, along with some house-made cobblers and other special desserts. On the sandwich menu, get any of these meats on a bun with pickles & chips for under $11. They also have burgers, patty melts, po-boys. The buns for these are super fresh tasting and slightly sweet. A full bar is at your service.
Great little restaurant with a dive bar feel.
We are in town for a short weekend, and wanted to eat close to the AirBnB.
Two sisters with a young lady who said she is the daughter of the owner are running this place!! Just the sweetest and friendliest women. Best service and just so helpful.
We were so confused in trying to find the location— (hint-it’s to the right of the big wooden restaurant). I am including pics of the outside to help you all find it. This is where the old adage is true. Don’t judge a book by its cover, and don’t judge a restaurant by the outside.
I really hope this place could be featured on diner’s drive in’s and dives!!! This would be on the list if Guy Fieri found it.
First-the hamburgers are the best my husband and I have ever eaten!!!! $12.99 with fries and a soda, talk about cheap!!!!
The ciabatta buns and hand made Patties, the hand cut fries and onion rings—oh my gosh yummy. My husband whom is fit as a fiddle and eats healthy, it was so funny to see him enjoying himself, he even ate my son’s leftovers;)
Second—the only complaint—is that they don’t know how to cut brisket!! With the grain is a big no no!!! Ladies!!! Against the grain!!!! Brisket was dry too, so that was my only complaint.
Loved this place we will be back!
Everything was delicious!! My husband and I will be back. Had to come back to my review to add that the bartender (didn’t get his name) was Awesome!! He made sure to add to the experience by making a great margarita for me for my birthday today!
Thanks again Texas Mesquite BBQ!
We stopped here for lunch. Everything was very good. We ordered the brisket burger and the short rib burger. The only thing I side eyed a little was the portion of onion rings. It could have been larger. We will stop here again.
Excellent place to try for some bbq! The pulled pork sandwich is delicious.. the choice of bread (ciabatta style bread) they use is perfect. The bbq sauce is tasty a perfect blend of sweet and tangy. Great friendly service, she was such a help and had some great conversations with her. (I am sorry I didn’t know how to spell you name) but thank you! And the red skin potato salad is yummy! Great time to visit and have a drink especially on game day! Give them a try!! We will return … Support your local businesses/restaurants!
Came in for a quick appetizer and meal for my daughter. I got the pulled pork loaded fries with egg and they were some of the best fries I've ever had. My husband got the alligator bites and he said they were delicious. My daughter got a kids plate with a hot dog and mac & cheese. She said the mac was cheesy and hearty and the hotdog and bun were browned nicely and delicious. Staff were friendly. Will return when I'm in the area.
The bbq was good for the price. The sides could use some improvements. We tried the potato salad, mac and cheese and sweet potatoes fries. The potato salad was a little bland
Amazing place. Food was nice and fresh. The brisket sandwich was delicious with nice, crisp chips. Chocolate brownie was fantastic. Personal was amazing as well.
The brisket was good. They were out of french fries. I don't understand how anyone can be out of french fries. The fried pickles I ate instead were quite good. They serve battered onion rings which my wife really enjoyed. I would eat there again.
