Tonight I had the pleasure of dining at Gasthaus Le Cafe. I was visiting friends in Cumming and they brought me here for dinner. The restaurant is a converted house, and you can tell, which is part of it's charm. We chose to set outside in the beer garden. The had a live musician and it wasn't too hot outside (They had umbrellas and fans which helped as well) My friends knew our waitress, because they had been there many times. She took very good care of us. She started us all out with a beer and a caprese salad appetizer. The beer was cold and the caprese salad was exceptional. I ordered the wiener schnitzel with a side of spaetzle and potato dumplings. Everything was delicious and authentic. Our dinners also came with a nice dinner salad and bread. It was such an enjoyable meal and visit with friends.
Went the about an hour or so before closing. Food was wonderful, service very good also. The owner came out and spent time with us. This was the most humble and nice guy I have ever met. Talking to him was worth the trip there.
The place is not very impressive, (drove by and missed it twice) but try the food before you form an opinion.
Great German Food. The food is amazing authentic German food. The ambience inside feels like an old house (Don't Like it) but like sitting outsize in the beer garden. Highly Recommended
Having worked there, I know how the food is made. I go here for dinner parties and I bring my parents too. Amazing owners and a great German clientele.
This place is great....good German food best bratwurst in ga and with real German musterd. Ask for Martin as your sever if you want a fun waiters
It is all in what you order..... Great beer! Food - ok, atmosphere - tight.
It is in an old house, quaint, but it makes it a little tight, warm and noisy.
Potato Pancakes were pretty good. House salad with the house dressing is a must, very good dressing.
Wife had Beef Stroganoff and it was kinda good, not Berghoff's good but ok none the less. I ordered the Rouladen, sounded good, but, all I got was the beef around a potato. Couldn't find bacon, onion or pickle.
I would (will) go back - did I mention the BEER is really good? I would like to try a couple other apps and entrees.
Best German food that tastes authentic in flavor & quality!
Excellent German food!. Tried Gasthaus last night and loved it! It's in a little old house in Cumming, GA and only seats about 40 people. The atmosphere is quaint. It reminded me of going to Grandma's house for dinner. In fact, that pretty much describes the entire experience - it doesn't feel like you're eating at a restaurant! It feels like you went over to Grandma's house for dinner, and that's a good thing!
The actual food was excellent - pork Jägerschnitzel, Spaetzle , potato dumplings and goulash. It was all outstanding! I wish I could find a place like this back home, because I'd be a regular!
Service was great, too - very familiar and friendly. The prices were reasonable.
Gasthaus is definitely one of my top 2 German restaurants (the other being Cafe Mozart in Washington D.C.).
Food and Service Perfection. I was reading some of the earlier review of Gasthaus and I agree that service was poor until Chef Rienhold took over personally. Now the service is as good as the food - which is just excellent. The vegetables are always cooked perfectly, the schnitzels always excellent and adding the draft of Warsteiner dunkel just rounds it out. We love this place and have gone almost monthly for the past 8 years.
Always Great!. Without question this place is the best German restaurant in metro Atlanta. The atmosphere is fantastic, the service is always solid and Reinhold is a master with his creations from the kitchen. The desserts in this place are the crown jewel of any meal.
A nice evening in the biergarten with friends is one of the best dining experiences one can have anywhere!
Nice German and European style restaurant in an old house. Good variety in the menu. Two sides and a salad included with entrees. We also got the warm, soft pretzel with mustard as an appetizer, and my wife got the apple strudel for dessert. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere.
On a more recent visit (Feb 2022), we got knockwurst and bratwurst with sauerkraut and German potato salad, and The Swiss; all were excellent!
I absolutely adore this lil restaurant. I have only ever been during lunch but it’s always so delicious. The desserts here are amazing. We got the apple strudel. My mom got the club sandwich with fries and I got the chicken schnitzel (without the sandwich setup) with a side of spatzle and red cabbage. We also got 2 drinks. Total was $28. Super well priced! Serve is always great. Will be back!
Wow. Just wow. Incredibly good. I've tried many German restaurants throughout the metro area and this place was absolutely excellent. Escargot was perfectly cooked, my currywurst was to die for, but my wife's goulash was a little dry. Not enough to complain about, but I expected a little bit better. The dessert menu is great too so make sure to save room. Beer is full German and done right. Also, great company with our fellow diners. We are really pleased and we will return.
Also feel like it's worth mentioning. It was insanely hot inside! Like well over 80 degrees. Hope that isn't the norm!
Excellent service, very good selections of German cuisine.
I haven't been here in years, but this small mom and pop restaurant is even better than I remembered. Very authentic, excellently prepared dishes. Check this place out if you're looking for great Germanic food.
Food is wonderful. Wait staff is excellent. Dining was like eating at a German family’s house. Order a liter size beer, and it comes in a boot! Reservations are a good idea.
