I don't make it in here enough. They have the best bread I've ever eaten in a dozen different flavors. They've always got free samples of the breads they're making that day - and the samples are huge, like an inch thick slice off the loaf. You can also get awesome sandwiches cold or grilled, and a variety of tasty things that go with bread, like nut butters, jams and jellies, honey, etc. Love this place.
There's a lot of things to like about this shop. When I walked in the door I was greeted with their standard offer of a taste of bread. It's delicious, fresh ground, whole-wheat bread. My wife bakes naturally leavened sourdough at home and we've done research on wheats and baking bread, so I was so happily surprised to learn this shop grinds their wheat fresh daily. The bread is generally fresh ground whole wheat and often rich with seeds and nuts. I love that kind of bread, so it works for me. I ordered the spicy turkey sandwich, not expecting much, and was again happily surprised to have a delicious, tall sandwich. It's a very generous size: I always tell myself I'll save half the sandwich for later but I can never resist eating the whole thing. I love the music and love the articles printed by the front door. Lots of great music. I have not purchased a loaf of bread to eat at home, but I have loved every bread I got with my sandwiches. Finally, I've witnessed 2 times when patrons came in and either tried to scam the person behind the counter with counterfeit bills or just wanted some free bread since they were hungry. A lot of businesses would handle the situation by being dismissive back to the scammer, but the folks at Great Harvest handled it by treating the people fairly and with respect. Like I said: there's a lot to like about this place!
Wow what great energy from the owner Matt and employee greeting you soon as you walk through the door!!! They have different loafs of breads to sample before ordering. The whole grain garlic "Super Delicious". The jerk chicken is a must try. I highly recommend this warm family business.
