I took my party of 15 to El Mexicano in Denville for my wife's birthday. It was my first time going to the restaurant. The decore is cheeky Mexican and full of various Mexican paraphernalia. They accommodated us into a semi private area off to the side. It was more that spacious to seat all of us.
The food was authentic Mexican with great flavors. Me and my party all complemented the food. The chips and salsa were excellent and so good that you're in danger of filling up on just them. The guacamole was delicious and fresh. In all it was a everything you expect from a family owned restaurant... Great food and awesome personal service.

Great food, very reasonably priced! My friend and I enjoyed a couple meals for under $30 total. I ordered the four taco meal, and my friend got the chicken quesadilla. Both meals came out very quickly, and even though we took our time we were easily done in less than an hour. Had we been in a rush, we could have been done in about 20 or 30 minutes (we arrived at 1:00 which is just after the typical lunch rush).
The two page menu is very simple, which helps to expedite lunch choices. I would imagine you can't go wrong with anything on the menu if you like Tex-Mex. The food we got was delicious, and my tacos tasted very fresh. The chips and salsa made for a tasty appetizer, and if you like salsa on the spicier side they have that option as well.
I am very happy to have found this place, and plan to go back for dinner with the family sometime soon. Highly recommend!
The food was immaculate, I ordered the fried quesadillas with shredded chicken and no lettuce. I will definitely be returning with some friends, but I do feel like the environment itself could be adjusted, with the music being a little too low for my liking, personally. The service was straightforward, and I enjoyed that aspect about it. Overall, a great experience and worth visiting again.
Very nice food with very good service. Food is savory and tasty. I gave 4 stars only because the menu is typical of most Mexican restaurants that offers standard fare. Try the tex-mex and enoy.
Amazing food and great atmosphere. We reserved space for a large group for lunch and all staff was extremely accommodating. We arranged to have a taco bar with various drinks and everything was absolutely perfect. Thank you!!
I’m tempted to tell people not to come here out of greediness. We don’t want people finding this gem. We’ve eaten here multiple times and the food keeps getting better and better. Why people aren’t lined up out the door is perplexing. Every dish has been excellent; it’s all so fresh and flavorful that we can’t pick a favorite. Service has always been great. We’ll see you there soon!
Fabulous! We ordered the catering menu's taco bar for a teacher luncheon at my school. Easy to order, on time delivery, set up. Plenty of plates, utensils and serving utensils. The food was amazing. We will definitely be getting this luncheon option again. I highly recommend El Mejicano. It is also one of my family's go to dinner spots for dine in or take out.
I've been here several times now and love it every time. I bring all my friends over. The food is authentic and the staff is super helpful. There is nothing not to love.
They never disappoint. My family and I have eaten here many times and we are always happy. We just recently had a surprise 40th here for a family member and Jesus was great at helping us make everything they way we wanted. From the shrimp to the stake, it was all delicious!!!
Food was very authentic simple and fresh! Pricing was good, a cash discount is available. The enchiladas are excellent
