No need to go to Hawaii anymore. I just tried Oahu Shave Ice. The took on a big task naming themselves for the best place in the world for shave ice. I was skeptical but pleased. They meet the requirement of their name. The flavors are spectacular. POG (Passion, Orange & Guava) is great. Tigersblood (watermelon, strawberry & coconut) is my favorite. The 16 ice cream choices make it tough but what fun to select. Some flavors are for kids (bubble gum, cotton candy) and not for me. But with as many choices there is something for everyone.
The store is really cute. It has surfboards for tables. Colors are fun. Decor is simple but the Hawaii pictures sort of complete the package.
A great place for a new and wonderful dessert and some fun too. I recommend it for family or just a quick and inexpensive date night.

This place is delicious. I think it equally compares to Hawaii's Shave Ice. So yummy. Go here for SURE! I'm so glad they're here to Orange County in our own back yard. My favorite is Tigers Blood!

Their decor was fun, all the tables were shaped like surfboards! The staff was very nice and very efficient, and not pushy at all about letting us gape open-mouthed at their 50+ flavors. One of the staff loved my tattoo and asked to see it, which is always nice when they are so friendly and talkative. Both locations, one in Fullerton and one in Yorba Linda, are worth a visit!

Ryan Dickens fell in love with Hawaii on his first trip. He loved every aspect, especially the food. The first time, he saw people eating shave ice, he thought, like every haole (non-local), that shave ice was a snow cone â€" crunchy, granular ice with a slight sweetness. Shave ice is totally different. It’s a heavenly, finely shaved ice that absorbs the syrups that you add to it. You can see the difference when they make it. It comes off of a huge ice block with sharp blades shaving off thin layers of ice. The ice is packed into a round globe-like shape (with or without ice cream inside) and syrup is layered on top. You can also add toppings like azuki beans or sweetened condensed milk. During Ryan’s wife pregnancy, she had a really bad craving for shave ice. The closest shave ice place to Orange County is in Gardena. It’s almost an hour long drive to get there. This gave Ryan the idea of bringing shave ice closer for the OC with two locations in Fullerton (July 2011)

What a wonderful way to beat the heat. This summer was a scorcher and Oahu's Shaved Ice definitely soothes the warm weather. They offer both ice cream and shaved ice. The ice cream are all Thrifty ice cream, which you can never go wrong with. For their shaved ice, they offer tons of flavors and combinations. There is usually a line during the summer, and for good reason. Given the many flavors and ice cream, there is something for everyone.

Okay, let’s talk story about da flavas! Ryan has come up with some yummy combinations. The first one is Caramel Apple. It is a scoop of vanilla ice cream under Green Apple shave ice and topped with caramel syrup. It sounds and looks a little weird, but it ONOLICIOUS (DELICIOUS)! Ryan did a lot of research to come up with the different syrups that he uses in the store. The green apple syrup tastes just like you are biting into sweet, fresh apples. The caramel gives it a silky, creamy texture. Once you get to the interior, the creamy vanilla ice cream blends with the apple flavor turning it into an apple pie a la mode. It reminds me of the gum machine in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory where the flavor changes as Violet chews the gum. This is amazing and you don’t turn into an apple at the end! Thumbs up, way up! Strawberry shave ice has a strong strawberry flavor just like you would get in Hawaii. It’s basic and old school, but onolicious to da max! Just reminds me of home! Thumbs up, way up! Rainbow shave ice is the most popular combo in Hawaii. It’s colorful and onolicious. It’s really for the indecisive, but who could go wrong with this? Mix the flavors with your ice cream in the middle and it’s paradise! Thumbs up, way up! Oahu POG is coconut-pineapple ice cream topped with passion fruit, orange, guava syrup and a snow cap. I’m a sucker for anything with lilikoi (passion fruit) or guava in it. It tasted just like the POG juice you get in the supermarkets in Hawaii. It was packed full of flavor and a tropical delight! This one definitely makes me homesick! Thumbs up, way up!

Was expecting mediocre shaved ice, but this place ended up exceeding my expectations. The coco-chata was a surprisingly good comination, as it is horchata shaved ice with chocolate ice cream underneath.

Awesome shave ice. The small shave ice with ice cream is big enough for two. The cherry coke shaved ice woth chocolate ice cream is bomb.
