Best kept secret for Japanese food in Gainesville!!! Beautiful restaurant with a sweet coy pond and really cool sushi bar that looks like a boat. Great hibachi chefs, especially Mr. Yummy, the owner.
Fantastic environment. Chef yummy is hilarious, food is great.
We were passing through on Christmas day and very hungry. Love the fact that a hibachi grill was open. We got there, parking lot was full which shocked me being Christmas and all. There were three to four grills with families there plus people at the bar. Mr.Yummy is the chef to get there, the show was amazing! I go to a lot of hibachi grills and clearly BY FAR this has been the best experience all around! The staff was friendly, the experience AMAZING, and the food was delicious! I don't normally write reviews much and this grill impressed me so much for me to write this!
I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant and Mr. Yummy. My boyfriend and I went for an anniversary dinner on recommendation from this site. We went on a Tuesday night and were literally the only people there at all. The show was hilarious and the food was fabulous. Mr. Yummy is an excellent chef. Make sure to try his homemade spicy sauce. Its incredible.
Amazing restaurant. January 1, 2011 The food was amazing. We were there to celebrate a birthday and my anniversary. We ate a variety from appetizers, calamari, sushi, to the amazing steak, lobster, shrimp and scallop entries. Mr. Yummy really knows his stuff. Excellent chef, great skills, and a friendly atmosphere. Best restaurant I've eaten at in Gainesville.
Thank you to mr. Yummy and the entire staff.
Best steak house in the area. Make sure you request "Mr. Yummy" for hibachi. Friendly staff.
Sushi was not good but this place has the best seafood sauce snd teriyaki sauce!!! Much better than Yamato!! Ask for Mr. Yummy
I've always had excellent service and food here. The best hibachi grill in Gainesville. Look no further.
When you roll up the parking lot is full. That's a good sign. I ordered the chirashi sushi and the portions were generous and delicious. I give it a thumbs up.
Much better then other Japanese steakhouses in the area with a huge sushi menu. They do not have asparagus or shiitake mushrooms in any of their rolls tho.
We go see Mr. Yummy at least once a week. My son is 2 and loves it. We have never had a bad experience here and I have been going for years. I have only had one time that it wasn't what is usually is, and that was when I had a different chief. ONLY see Mr. Yummy. The show and food are outstanding. We have never had bad service. When they are busy things so get a little slow, but it takes a while for the chiefs to make their rounds so the servers I think so their best to space things out. Some times you might wait a little longer because a person at your table has requested Mr. Yummy....and have 2 other tables. We love My. Yummy and the Miraku family. I highly recommend!
We really enjoyed our dinner. Me and my son are here in town to see doctors and have test done and we went to dinner just up from our hotel. A very nice couple with their two girls paid for our meal, they said that they know that it can be expensive dealing with medical. All that I can say is thank you very much it is nice to know that there's are still good people out there that care. It brought a tear to my eyes when the waiter told me. Great restaurant all the way.
Everything about this place is great! Went here when we found Yamatos full with an hour wait. The staff was very friendly and polite. The atmosphere was peaceful and beautiful. But the food was by far the best I've ever had! Didn't like the salad much but the fireball sushi roll was delicious! The combo plates are reasonably priced and delicious as well. Mr. Yummy was also great, made me laugh. Will definitely be back.
The food is above other chain hibachi restaurants in the area. Sushi, sauces and entrees are the BEST! We have been going for years. Our kids love Mr. Yummy. He's so funny and doesn't rush your experience. These people are hardworking and living the American Dream. They are not a chain, cookie cutter restaurant. If you want average food and experience go to chain. You want exceptional food give it a try.
My family and I went in there last night, The website said they closed at 10 however they closed at 9:30 . We arrived at 9:15, so I told my husband that I didn't want to go in there and do that to them bc they closed in such a short amount of time . The hostess said they had just taken a party in so they were going to be open regardless and encouraged us to come in. She was so SWEET And had a smile on her face!! Our chef/entertainer was the absolute BEST! My daughter is only 1 and he even out of his way to cut up some steak and vegetables super small and put it on a plate for her to eat! Between the food and the great personalities of the servers and the really neat overall atmosphere of the restaurant was amazing! Highly recommended.
