Although the condiments bar has been removed since the pandemic, Taco Bar is still a great place to get tacos from!
The food here is great, and they give a large portion when compared to other similar places.
Their lingua (beef tongue) tacos are awesome because they are very tender.
Taco Bar's prices have recently spiked for all of their menu items, but i feel the price for lingua is exceptionally high.
($6 for 1 street lingua taco as of 2023)
I would also recommend their tortas! A whole order gives you 2 sandwiches!!!
The service is really quick and even though it's located at a gas station, the place has a nice charm to it.

The most legit taco bar you’re gonna get in the greater DC area. Home- cooked feel and flavor, excellent portion sizes, fair pricing; it’s tucked in very easy to miss if you’re not looking it’s the second door on your left if you’re coming from behind (shell gas station).
Guys, listen. I’m a snob about my Mexican and my Italian food. It’s gotta be legit or I ain’t having it. That leaves very, very few places to go. This spot has been on point every SINGLE time I’ve gone since I discovered them 4 years ago. Granted, they had the full salsa bar (bring it baaaaack) but that was precovid. I honestly wasn’t sure they’d be here still (I mean not because they were unpopular- clearly a nearly impeccable rating supports this but because it’s been so long!) and I went this week (today was twice in 4 days) and can still confirm they are consistently the best for real mex tacos and specifically SOPES . Must try! Might I recommend you the chorizo one, no sour cream.
These bad boys have a fried masa cake (think thick corn tortilla) topped with the meat, lettuce, beans, Cotija cheese, and cream. 5$ each. The key to sopes is they GOTTA be fresh and the meat has to come through with flavor. They have yet to give me a subpar sope. Please show them some love
Food is great! I love their burritos, in a bowl or wrapped. Tried their tacos as well and they are okay. Price is affordable so it doesn’t hurt your budget much if you eat lunch here 3x a week.
Heard about this place from a colleague. The restaurant is located right in front of the gas station. We ordered online and picked up a big order for work lunch. Their portion sizes are huge. Great value for money. I had pollo burrito bowl and horchata, both tasted great.
Best authentic Mexican food around, and I grew up in LA! Fast, friendly, and made to order. Prices are the best, even after the pandemic. Hours too, though they did close earlier than posted once. Outside seating is nice. Miss the salsa bar, but understand. Parking is easy in gas station lot. It's inside the liquor store part of the gas station. Go to the far left door.
Don’t be fooled that this place is in a gas station liquor store. Excellent tacos, large menu, fair prices, and good portions.
The tacos were fresh, not greasy, and filling. The guacamole was bright and refreshing. Staff were kind and the service was quick.
I've heard about this taco joint - and joint is definitely the way to describe it - for a while and was looking forward to experiencing it. This is the joint that started the taco cluster in Gaithersburg! It's a beer and wine store at a gas station with a taco counter. I know that sounds sketchy - and it is! That's part of the charm. Note that if you buy a beer there, you can't drink it on site - we learned that they apparently don't have that kind of liquor license. The 🌮 tacos were tasty and not insignificant. The ingredients tasted flavorful and fresh. They do have some decent outdoor tables that are not on the gas station side of joint. It's worth coming here on your taco tour of Gaithersburg 😋🌮
So I came to this place last year and the food was really good! I thought that it might had changed this year but no, the food is still good! I like that they give you a big portion, I asked for a Torta el Guero and it was really good, it’s big, and it’s not too expensive. The place is located right beside the gas station, but they still have tables to eat. And one of my favorite parts is that you can see how they are making your food, that’s really nice, and the personal is kind too.
Been going Here for YEARS tucked away at fill up station near the Rio... great customer service great food plus a selection of alcohol in the beer and wine, indoor and outdoor seating available. W/ also a multitude of things available to do at the Rio locating it self... I highly recommend checking them out off 370 highway ...
