This is a great place for a long, slow meal. I’ve been several times and have never had to wait. Each time, I get the all you can eat. You can choose from several broths which they happily top off when the level seem to get a bit low. There is a solid variety of meats, veggies an seafood items (they have octopus!!!!) to cook at the table. They also have a nice complementary “sauce bar” with several sauces (e.g. beef, soy, sesame, black bean) an spices (e.g. ginger, garlic, cilantro, season, spring onions). You can make your own dipping sauce or add it to the broth.
Normally the service is great, though the last time one of the servers seemed miffed when we asked for rice and was extremely curt when he told us the bowl he brought was the last they had - how does a Chinese restaurant run out of rice?
Despite his poor attitude, it won't stop me from going back. Definitely one I recommend.
Great meal service was good. Staff came around to make sure you were ok. Sat promptly. Highly recommend
The food itself is sufficient for five stars . Scallops, shrimps, beef, and lamb all taste fresh. 6 soup base and many varieties of fresh vegetable to choose from. The service has room to improve but it was functional. We ordered Shrimp Hua twice but it never showed up. We asked about it well into second half of the meal and were told it ran out. It's common service expectation for the waiter to just say something like "Sorry we have run out of XXX today. Would you like YYY instead?"
My family and I love the hot pot. the food is great Excellent service with a smile, Always friendly, a large selection of meats and vegetables. We try to make it several times throughout the year to visit and enjoy our meal. It's the best hot pot in Maryland we travel an hour away to enjoy the food, service, and atmosphere we love it.
We attended another hot pot at one point in time did not like the service was rushed out and the only thing we liked about it was the burners were built into the table Through Electric, So we decided from then on riverside hot pot was the place to go.
I very much enjoyed the hot pot experience here. The food was extremely fresh as it should be, the sauce bar provides with plenty of options, the service is attentive and on point. I enjoyed my meal, and a friend who never had experienced hot pot before was also very impressed. I will be returning!
However some comments, one of my guests ordered the normal broth and it was essentially just water with 1-2 vegetables thrown in, that was initially concerning, but with addition of stuff from the sauce bar that broth was quickly livened up.
Another point is that the pricing of this restaurant was unclear before I arrived, clear defined pricing online would be great information to have. For example, is the lunch menu option available only during the week?
Nevertheless, 5 stars for food and service.
Love the mini dumplings, the sauce bar is great. I enjoy the atmosphere to sit with your family and enjoy hot pot. The menu has a lot to choose from. This was the first place I ever ate hot pot and it was very good. Will be back the next time I am in the area.
Definitely the best hotpot place in the entire Maryland. Very very Chinese very very popular. Ingredients are fresh and clean that you could tell just from seeing it. All flavors of the pot are delicious. Nice place for family and friends. Even good to go alone just for the food. Knocked one star off because of the service. But the service is kinda okay for a Chinese place.
If Riverside Hot Pot can be explained in word, I would choose PHENOMENAL. The all you can eat is an amazing option. The portions are great, and it is very simple. The staff is great and has exceptional customer service. Children under 4 y/o eat for free. The only downside is they currently do not off a military discount. Other than that, this place is awesome. Highly recommend!
This place is great, finally a hotpot place nearby, nearby for me meaning an hour's drive, but better than nothing. Great sauce bar, good quality ingredients. Never felt pressure to leave at a certain time, I've been to hotpot places that enforce strict 2 hour rules.
Also to the guy that gave 1 star because he was duped by the Groupon... learn to read. The fine print rules CLEARLY state that the coupon cannot be used on Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday.
Love this place, such a great way to cook your own meal and eat it too 😀❤
New food experience...and I was super ignorant but then it was actually very delicious once you get the hang of it! Our waitress did her best to explain it to us but you just have to delve in and try it. By your second time around you should know what you are doing and know what you like. Would recommend and we will definately be back.
Only been there a total of 6 times since July 2015, it's November 2015 now. I would probably go more often but I live in Baltimore. I've had the hot pot buffet for $23.99 and the lunch for $12.99. Everything has been delicious. I especially like the lunch hot pot because I can take it with me if I'm not done. I just recently found out there is a frequent flyer program. Eat 10 meals get a free meal which makes it really nice. Only criticism I have is make sure you count the amount you get. For instance the lunch is a choice of soup and 15 items. On 2 of my visits, I only received 14 or 13 items of the 15. Not a big deal, I told the waitress and she verifies the mistake and brings the missing items.
