This is chipotle but the asian version, with more selection , ironically it’s located right across the street from it, anyway Poki DC at Rio is a delightful spot for poke lovers! This restaurant offers a range of fresh and customizable poke bowls. The ingredients are top-notch, and the flavor combinations are fantastic.
One aspect to note is the parking situation, which can sometimes be challenging due to the popularity of the Rio area. It's advisable to plan accordingly or consider alternative transportation options. Also its summer 2023 but their AC didnt seem to work , so they had lots of fans. It didn’t ruin the experience tho
Overall, Poki DC is a must-visit for poke enthusiasts looking for a satisfying and flavorful meal. Just keep in mind the potential parking challenge, but the delicious poke bowls make it well worth the visit.
I need fast casual to be CLEAN - especially when they serve raw fish. So far, so pleased. The spicy tuna was too mild though. I will return .
Good place if you want to experience some tasty raw/marinated/cooled seafood with healthy toppings. Super filling *burp*
Great customer service . Check into the YELP app and get a free mochi of your choice.
A lil pricey for the ambience but the quantity makes up for it
I ordered through Uber the other night and was so disappointed in the quality of food, specifically beef (still not sure it was beef). The restaurant was nice, the guy that answered offered to replace it but I wasn't able to get there. I really couldn't believe what they sent was beef, I ordered the beef bowl, because it was disgusting and didn't resemble anything I've ever seen.
He suggested I send a picture though and I expected someone to reply.
I spoke to the manager the next day and he was nice but wasn't able to look at what I received to tell me what it was.
Either it was something else or the standards there are so low to allow something to go out so awful.
Beware if you order beef
I decided to edit the review and give it 5 stars. The reason is because I ended up trying the grilled salmon bowl and really loved it. All the veggies were fresh and crisp and I love the choices they offer.
I still don't know what that meat was and I would never order it again but the grilled salmon is great
Great location, fairly priced, fresh ingredients, great flavor! I was really impressed with this place. If you love it as much as I do, you can join their loyalty program and earn some freebies. Since this location opened recently, they also have some free ice cream if you check in on fb/yelp.
Restaurant itself is not particularly big, very casual or on the go but looks spotless.
Finally, a poke place in Gaithersburg! I'm glad that I don't have to go all the way down to Rockville pike or DC / Virginia for some delicious quick eats.
I came here on Sunday morning around 11:30 on opening weekend. Ordering was simple and quick, as how Poke should be. You choose your base of sushi rice, brown rice with quinoa, mixed greens, and zucchini noodles. Next, you pick your protein (2 scoops is standard, 3 is more $). They have a variety of marinated and unmarinated ahi tuna, salmon, yellowtail, chicken, shrimp, squid salad, and tofu as a vegetarian option. Next, you get to add your toppings which include a variety of vegetables and fruit. I highly recommend the crabmeat salad and the masago (fish egg)! They have 10 different sauces, but I chose the honey wasabi and Sriracha mayo. There's a self serve crunchy topping station which has seaweed, fish flakes, rice puffs, onion crisps, sesame seeds, and garlic crisps.
Seating is pretty limited inside. There's 7 chairs for seating at the bar and 4 regular tables. It wouldn't be an issue if grabbing it to go and eating it at home or somewhere else outside like on a bench, but might be difficult for larger groups.
They have a water dispenser if you don't want to buy a beverage, but there are a variety of drinks (Japanese soda ramune, canned green tea. Soda, etc.).
I would definitely go back again if around the area, Poke DC adds new variety to the restaurants currently in the Rio area.
I’ve been to Poki DC a handful of times now. It’s really good! The fruit and veggies options are always fresh. My only issue is the pricing and quantity of fish you get. I paid $16 for a two piece fish option. The portioning is really small compared to other Poki places Ive had with the same pricing and larger portioning.
excellent food! tried the chicken karaage bowl and it was great! as for the service, very fast from ordering to checking out! would highly reccomend!
The food usually tastes great. A little expensive but good food. Usually a great experience overall however, today picked up food and the place had a strong smell of rancid oil. Not sure if they need to change their frying oil more often.
Kind employees, good quick food in a clean upbeat atmosphere. Got the shrimp shumai to go.
