We stopped by Fava's while passing through Georgetown on a Sunday, about lunchtime. The dining room was about half full and we were seated immediately. Server staff was all very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu
We decided to split a bowl of vegetable soup as an appetizer or, of which my daughter said it was the best vegetable soup that she had ever had. My daughter had a chicken salad croissant with french fries, everything was fresh, the croissant was huge, and the chicken salad was homemade and tasty. I had a patty melt with onion rings, looked to be about a 6 ounce burger patty grilled onions and Swiss cheese between two slices of grilled bread.
Tasty but I like my patty melts to be flattened out more and a lot greasier.
Fava's is absolutely charming on the outside and the inside, and the employees only complement this historic building with great food and great personalities.
And ohhh, the chocolate pie!
We we will be back.
We were thankful that local legend, Dennis Gilmore, was not there. Fortunately, he was held up at church.
Awesome food. We ate until we couldn't walk. Fried catfish and their cheeseburgers are the best.
A short drive up the interstate took Fat Man Reviews to Fava's Restaurant in Georgetown, KY. Fava's Restaurant is a family owned restaurant that has been around since 1910. They serve southern plates and desserts.
We started with the Frickles. The pickles were hamburger chip cut, they were lightly breaded and fried to an amazing crunch. They were served with homemade ranch, which was some of the best that I have ever had.
I also tried the Chili. It was made with hamburger, beans, onions, tomatoes and juice. It was a thick and hearty dish but was not spicy at all. Furthermore, it was a good stick to your rib's chili, I really enjoyed it.
My fiancé tried the Soup & 1/2 Sandwich, which came as a whole sandwich. She had the special of the day, Vegetable Beef and upgraded to a grilled cheese. The grilled cheese was on white(wheat, Texas toast, Rye and a hoagie is an option), came with cheddar and Swiss. It was grilled to perfection and the cheese was melted and gooey. The soup was made with vegetables out of a can and hamburger, not a roast as I have typically seen. Again this was a hearty, thick dish that had been cooked all day and the flavors had married together. It reminded me more of a burgoo than a soup, but it was delicious.
I tried the Award Winning Catfish, with homemade tartar sauce, hush puppies and fries. The fries were cooked to a golden crunchiness, the cornmeal hush puppies were as well. The catfish was served in nuggets, cornmeal breaded and fried to perfection. The fish was moist and flaky, and the creamy slightly sweet tartar sauce was great as well. I can see how it is award-winning.
Fava's Restaurant offers breakfast, lunch and dinner plates. As well as soups, sandwiches, burgers and salads. They also serve beer and wine The place is small, so there may be a wait, and the wait staff is excellent. Fava's Restaurant is Fat Man Approved and Recommend.
I had picked up a door dash order from there. There is usually a small wait but not too bad. I have eaten here and they are Awesome! Breakfast is my fave there but if you like fried banana peppers, omg they are the best. It's a cute little diner that's been in Georgetown forever. The service is great! This place never disappoints
I love coming to Fava’s! It has been a weekly treat for me for the past 6 mos. It didn’t take long for Rubi to recognize me and know my typical drink order. Everyone is great, the food is great, and you have to try the pie! Would recommend this place to anyone. Home away from home, and Rubi makes it extra special!
Quaint little place, simple menu downhome taste. Great prices, photos are of hot brown with onion rings lunch serving, and a fried pickle, fried banana ring, pretzel bite with beer cheese appetizer combo. Parking maybe tricky but it's worth it.
The food was delicious, but the servers seemed overwhelmed and didn't seem to know how to prioritize the guests in front of them over the people calling on the phone. We had asked for a dessert, but the waitress took time to sell some condiment to a person at the counter and deal with complaints from phone customers before just cutting us the darn piece of pie! We ended up saying forget it, and asked a different waitress for our bill.
Good little restaurant with comfort food. We had the country fried steak and a beer cheese burger.
Food is good and portions large and reasonably priced. The dining space is very small. We had a group of 6 and they wouldn't take a reservation so we had to sit at separate booths. I would recommend this place if you have 4 or less in your group.
