Small town personal service. I've been eating here since it opened and even before back when Tony was running the orient express down the street(which has gone to bleep since he left)! He ALWAYS remembers your exact order. I hadn't been in like a year one time and i walked in and he ratted off my order to a T. Even remembered the extra Sweet & sour sauce! Couldn't ask for better food or service! And great price, which is always a plus.
Needs seasoning but OK. I gave this place a thumbs up. Service was great and incredibly fast, ingredients and preparation were very good but the food is cafeteria bland. I ordered House Special Singapore noodle and everything was right except they completely left out any curry or chili seasoning. Singapore noodle always has curry in it , but not here.I couldn't detect any seasoning beyond salt, chicken broth and MSG. Despite that, the food was quite edible, not at all greasy, with good quality ingredients well prepared. If you don't like it spicey it is very good. If it was properly seasoned it would've been great. I'm not from around here so I won't be back. If I do ever come back here I might bring a can of curry as a gift to the cook or a bottle of Sriracha to season it myself.
I love this place. I try to eat here at least once a week for lunch. I get the shanghai chicken every time and it is always good, and inexpensive!
This place is great! Does not seem to be much when you walk in but the good is wonderful and the service is great!! Highly recomend a visit!
Tony is awesome. Long time family friend. The bourbon chicken is awesome. The dish I get is bourbon chicken and sweet and sour dipping the sweet and sour in the bourbon chicken sauce. Amazing flavor. Tony remembers everything.
Reminds me of the old Orient Express in Paris. Had a good meal (sautéed vegetables and rice) and a tremendous egg roll. Value was tremendous.
Good food. Could use a bit more spice but overall tasty. Will try again.
The food is always so fresh and prepared fast, AND for a great price as well! The cook is the owner and he takes pride in his dishes :-)
Best Chinese in KY!!! I had gone to Orient Express since I was eight with my grandmother until Tony left and opened Shanghai Express!! He remembers you and your order and the food never fails!!!

Love, love this place. Tony is always smiling and friendly when we come in. The good is great and always good. And one of the few places in Georgetown that serves Pepsi products. That is always good
The food was very delicious. The server took our six orders without writing them down and brought out the correct six dishes quickly. The food was very good, and we were all impressed with the portions. The restaurant had a steady stream of locals ordering food and talking about how much they liked the food.
I would go here again.
Visiting family, we stopped in during the second week of June. We have NEVER in our lives been to an Asian restaurant where you can actually order a dish the way YOU like it!! Added my faves, and the bourbon chicken was OUT. OF. THIS. WORLD!! Then..when we needed to leave suddenly, they were quick to package everything to go and were so nice about it!! We can't say enough good things about this business...you guys rock!! Hope you are there next time we travel to Georgetown, cuz we're def coming back!! TEN STARS from us!! Gratefully, Terri and Marti
Shanghai Express is a good place to eat , if anyone had an issue with their order , all you have to do is say something they will fix it . They always want their customers happy . It’s not just Shanghai that people come for it’s tony . His memory for everyone order and that he cares for everyone that walk through the door. So to bash all you like those who really knows Tony and the restaurant knows the truth . He was running the Orient Express for years until he and Hubba open their own. Those who knows him follow him. Because he no only care about what he does he care about people .
I stop in when I need serious comfort food. The egg rolls are so delicious. I've been known to get just 3 or 4 orders of egg rolls (2 egg rolls per order) so I have extras to take for lunches at work. The veggies are the best I've had at any Chinese restaurant -- so fresh and crisp. The fried rice is a little disappointing, but I can make good rice at home. I can't make those egg rolls. Tony -- host, waiter, and I assume owner/manager -- is friendly and personable. I was looking for a reasonable replacement since The Plum Tree closed. I'm glad I found Shanghai Express. Nothing else in Georgetown or Lexington compares.
Tony is the Best! Besides having the best egg rolls on the planet, everything on the menu is fresh, hot, and delicious every single time. I've been a customer since opening about 30 years and have NEVER had a bad experience! Highly recommended!
Amazing. We drive from out of town at least twice a week to eat here. And we have since Tony opened this. Actually, we have been with Tony since before he opened. It started because no one in my family believed how he always remembers your order. Always. Try it. The food is fresh, the restaurant is clean, and the service is never wrong.
