I've been driving up and down Route 31 since I was a kid. Finally stopped after many many years of eyeing up the place. I was so pleased. Friendly staff. Gracious owner. Best hot dogs around (yes, even better than Hot Dog Johnny's). Even better French fries (the sour cream & chive are where it's at)! I will be talking this place up to all my Jersey friends! It's definitely worth the stop!
Stopped in with my mom for a burger, hot dog, and fries. Everything was amazing! Plus Rod and Peggy are extremely friendly and sociable! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a quality burger or hot dog at a great price
Been here only twice and I would stop by more if I lived near by. The hot dogs were ok but I prefer a well done grilled dog. The burgers and fries were excellent. The owner was extremely friendly both times I've gone and wish him the best of luck. If I'm in the area I will definitely go again.
All I can say is “wow”. This place has great hot dogs. I definitely recommend getting the chili dogs with onions. Absolutely delicious. The food is priced just right and the service was awesome. So happy we discovered this place. I will definitely be going back.
I have been coming to Hot Rod's since he opened in the 90's. Though I fo not live in the area anymore I make it a point to stop in every time I an near. The hot dogs herr are unique. I highly reccomend the "works" dog, which has mustard, onion and a pickle. When you order fries, you get a BAG of fries. You can also get hamburgers here.
Best hot dog stop on 31. Worth the hour and a half drive just for 2 chili cheese dogs. Oh and their sour cream and chive fries are delicious. They also have a $20 box of frozen meats for the grill. Talk about getting the most bang for your buck?! 8 burgers, 2 marinated steaks, and 8 sausage grillers!! Make sure you stop in and grab some good food on your way by, you won't be disappointed.
Great French fries!!! Hotdogs were good. Service was great, order was correct and food hot!
My son and I were on our way back from the poconos and we normally stop at hot dog Jonny's. It's just kind of a family tradition. But for one reason or another they were closed. We were intent on hot dogs so we pulled into Hot Rods as soon as we spotted it down the road. We had a couple hot dogs with the works and some seasoned waffle fries that we just perfect. Slightly larger menu than hot dog Johnny's with more options for toppings but nothing to fancy. Just good food for the road.
