Outstanding food!. We went on Memorial Day for lunch and it was a bit of a wait, but the food was awesome. As an ex-smoker, the smell of smoke bothered me a bit, but it was not overwhemling. I had the most amazing patty melt EVER and my husband had a really good rib basket special. The prices were bargains, the staff was friendly and the service was good.
Found this diamond in the rough on a recent trip thru Greeneville... Looking for a restaurant that offered good food & drinks, we were directed to the Hyperion by a local. The exterior might lead one to believe that this place is simply a locally owned version of a T.Roadhouse bc of its western type appearance. However, once you read the menu & sample the food, you'll quickly realize this place has just about anything you could want... They had a fantastic selection of appetizers, sandwiches, steaks & other diverse entrees, such as oysters, shrimp & an array of pasta dishes, & they also offered a delicious, down home breakfast menu served all day/night... The ribeye was a great cut, cooked perfectly, the chicken philly was the best my wife had ever eaten & their biscuits & gravy tasted just how I'd always imagined the perfect southern biscuits & gravy should & would taste!! The service was fast & very friendly & we were made to feel so welcome that going back to eat there was not only a must, but a given!! So thankful we were sent in the Hyperion's direction!! It will definitely be a stop on our route anywhere close to Greeneville, TN!! :) Thumbs up Hyperion! Keep up the good work!!
All signs point to...well, clever signs and good food.. On night number two of our "nights on the Greeneville town," we came across the Hyperion Grill. We walked in to the joint with some confusion. Were we to seat ourselves or wait for someone to tell us what to do. I saw the guys who entered before us walk out to the patio menus and silverware in tow. We followed their lead, grabbed our menus and headed out to the patio as well. We definitely found, arguably, the second of the "cool" places in town. Unfortunately, they have hardly anything for me, as a vegetarian, to eat. I would be royally screwed if I was vegan. As it was, I had a side salad (even their entree salads all had meat in them. And really, I am not a vegetarian because I WANT to eat salad. Sometimes, I am actually hungry.)! I also had the onion rings...they weren't the absolute best I've ever had, but they are pretty darned good! They staff is friendly and attentive once they see you at your table. The place has a nice vibe. One waitress was all "tatted" up with multiple piercings. I wanted to ask her what "cool" people did in Greeneville, but I was certain that her response would be "you are doing it." But I enjoyed the signs around the bar the most of all. Between your typical bar signage for various forms of alcoholic beverages are clever, fun signs. You should read the walls.
Another great small, old school bar and grill that does things right. Better than standard bar food. Fair prices. We received great service.
