Yakiya is a unique BBQ restaurant in Hacienda Heights, CA. They serve a prix-fixe menu with a variety of beef dishes. The food quality, service, and ambient are all good. As a Chinese owned restaurant, its good quality is unusual. The thinly sliced A5 Wagyu was my favorite. Some improvement opportunities: The Beef Cheek had good flavor but the meat was dry. The sorbet had a combination of sour, sweet, bitter and spicy. It was too complex for me. It was about 48 degree Fahrenheit outside. They opened a door which was connected to the patio seating area. The patio cold air made the dining room a bit too cold. My friends felt uncomfortable. I told the manager and she was insensitive.

Took my husband here for his birthday and I was super impressed. The meal is a pre fixed menu for about $100ish a person, which seems a little steep but it is super worth it. I have been to a lot of nicer restaurants where I’ve Paid way more and had less to eat with lame experiences. This was amazing! I also told the hostess that it was my husbands birthday in the beginning because I heard they give the birthday person a bone marrow whiskey shot which was right up my husbands alley. All of the meat and courses were delicious and beautifully plated, and I was pretty stuffed at the end. The dessert at the end was such a surprise I loved it! The service was really professional and friendly but not overly friendly which I loved. Thank you for making our experience dining at the restaurant amazing! Would definitely recommend to someone dining for a special occasion.

Quick Summary Excellent prix fixe Japanese steakhouse dinner featuring multiple courses of a beef with a few A5 dishes. Excellent service as everything is grilled and handled by the servers. Highly recommend booking reservations Food- 5 stars This is a prix fixe meal without an a la carte option, which was great as we were able to try everything. Everything was presented beautifully and Ienjoyed every dish on the menu (my favorite was the short rib stew and the A5 wagyu egg dish to end the meal). Portions are just enough to make you feel full, without hitting food coma. Service- 5 stars You have your own dedicated server cooking and preparing everything for you. Service was excellent throughout and I loved how they offered a whiskey shot (through a bone marrow serving luge) for my dad's birthday. Great experience throughout. The Japanese toilet in the bathroom was an extra touch too! Bottom Line Great food, ambiance, decor and service. There wasn't any specific dish that was jaw-dropping, but everything was fantastic and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience!

A solid 4.5! We came as a party of 10. Loved that they have a nice patio, ambiance was great! Speaking of the food, I really enjoyed the first 3 cold dishes, especially the beef tartare, it was to die for. Beef tongue and beef cheek ox tail soup were also on point. However, most of us didn't really enjoy the veggies (both veggie dip and marinated tomato) I know those were for cleansing our palate, but flavor-wise, they were pretty plain. My biggest complaint would be their prime rib eye selection, they were too heavy with the seasoning. It didn't really compliment the meat. Besides that, Filet mignon was good with the bone marrow rice, they really made that bone marrow rice to perfection. So delish! The star dish throughout the night was the A5 wagyu, 100% melt in your mouth & It also tasted great with the poached egg, very buttery! 10/10. All in all, great food great ambiance, great table service and amazing presentation. We all enjoyed the meal, def worth trying! Side note: The price can be easily up to $150 -$180+ if you decided to opt for a few cocktails to enjoy ($15+ each) FYI, their cocktails were VERY mediocre. We tried 4 that night.
