Cowfish Hampton Bays

This is the kind of restaurant that gives you two important things when looking for a dining experience: Atmosphere and Great Food. Cowfish perched at a marina on the Shinnecock Bay, the view is spectacular. Clean white boats line the harbor and if you are lucky to be there in fine weather the scene is positively old Long Island. If the landscape is what draws you to Cowfish, it is the food that will keep you coming back. For starters we had grilled Brussel sprouts with a mustard sauce which was incredibly delicious. I could have just drizzled that sauce over a piece of bread and been happy. We also had guacamole with chips which was full of pieces of avocado and served with corn tortilla chips and lime. The salmon I had was flavorful, grilled on the outside of tender and flaky meat . It is served over a bed of basmati rice, grilled asparagus with a creamy pimento sauce. It was outstanding. My husband had the Reuben sandwich which was stuffed with good earthy pastrami and melted swiss . A hard to please man used to Southern fried cooking, he deemed the sandwich "excellent". Another order at the table was a grilled fish sandwich which was smoky and as tender as the salmon. Another wonderful dish. For dessert we all tried the banana pudding pie. To say it was a delight is to not do it justice. It was simply amazing. What a great lunch we had. Paired with Palmer Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc, it is a certainty we will be back again and again.

Last year we had a wedding reception here and just went back for our first anniversary. Kait who handles the catering was awesome with our wedding, always remembers us and helped us have a great anniversary dinner too. The food was great, the drinks were great and so was the service. I have never seen the staff at a restaurant get the job done as well by working together as a team. Not one person walked past our table without taking a dish or giving us something we needed when they weren’t even our server. It was very impressive and Kait made sure that our anniversary was recognized even though she wasn’t there. It was all a great experience! Thank you again Kait!
