I've been going to Sammy's for years. His food is some of the best Italian in City, and you can't go wrong with BYOB. My favorites are the calamari with ginger sauce, house salad vinegrette, Chicken Rossano, Chicken Abruzzi, and caramel flan. Though, I've tried several dishes on the menu and never had a bad meal. The service is friendly and promt, and I like their comfortable, lively atmosphere. Definitely worth experiencing.
We were just there Friday 6/8. Easily in the top 5 the best Italian dinners we've ever had. Sea scallops were done PERFECTLY, delicious sauce, beautiful presentation. Wait staff were attentive and courteous, very helpful with menu selections and questions. Not sure what happened to the one star customer that night, but we had a delightful experience and would go back any time. Thank you, Sammy's!
Felt very much like I was back in Italy! BYOB cozy family owned restaurant. Service was excellent, food prepared perfectly to order and quickly. Delicious lobster ravioli appetizer with amazing sauce. Ordered the ribeye and shrimp special. Steak was cooked just right! The chicken florence with pasta in a lemon sauce was so fresh. Beautiful view of the capital building. Will definitely come back as we were too full to try desserts and recommend to anyone in the area.
Super cozy, romantic atmosphere. Staff was phenomenal & genuine. Love that it’s BYOB. Reminded us of when we ate in Italy. The specials were amazing; veal & shrimp pasta then a pesto/scallop/shrimp pasta. For dessert, we had a flan type custard & it was so delicious that we almost ordered a 2nd one.
The food and service was excellent. The young curly haired male Host/ Server was able to confidently recite the menu and bring a warm welcomed Comedic approach, to our service.
Due to the small space, Everyone in the rooms chatter seemed like a stadium's roar. Making the atmosphere less desirable for a small dinner gathering among friends.
Please verify your bill when it comes. There was some incorrect math being done manually, that was quickly resolved.
I would like to go back when it's less crowed.

It's pretty bold to have Authentic Italian as part of your restaurants name. Your saying to your customers that our sauces are simple and not pretentious, our pasta is cooked to perfection and our dishes represent the love we have for our food. Sammy's is every bit authentic. I ordered the linguini with clams and my wife ordered the chicken parmesan. Both dishes are simple and for some represent a feeling of Nona's kitchen. Although simple, these are the two dishes that other restaurants attempt to mask the natural flavors of clams and tomatoes with unneeded spices. Sammy was on point.
This may sound funny, but I tend to judge an Italian restaurant by it's cannolis. There is nothing better than just filled cannolis with a crunchy shell and a not to sweet center. My wife watched them fill our cannolis to order. Bellissimo!

Best Italian food I had in Pennsylvania. The Gelato was just surreal!! Bruchetta and Pastas were best too.

Go for Brunch or dinner. I sat there for dinner seeing night taking over the capitol building and lighting adding to the scene.
I am really hesitant to say all the great things that makes this a five star restaurant because it has limited capacity seating. Having grown up in a predominantly Midwest Italian neighborhood i was raised on authentic Italian food. As such I am very picky and hard to please. Sammy's exceeds all expectations. He is a masterful chef and magician in his kitchen. The selection is authentic yet has a true "Sammy's " spin added in. I travel the US and abroad and no one tops this place. His son Vic is an awesome young man and a bonus if you visit. Simply stated..."il meglio".
