In my personal opinion all soul food restaurants should be open on Sunday’s…thank you Daddy D’s Suber Soulfood for making this reality for me. Don’t let the Buffett bar’s location in the middle of the floor throw you off like it did me when I walked in. Oh no I was too giddy that they were open serving up deliciousness on a beautiful Sunday morning at 11:45 AM.
Hostess acknowledged me while seating other patrons (A+). Seated i was advised to pick up a pair of gloves and put them on prior to helping myself…LOVED that!! They don’t just mention it they are on top of it. I made my plates in one fell swoop. The fried chicken was perfectly cooked down to the bone and the smothered pork chop was succulent over a little white rice. The pasta salad, salad and fresh fruit were divine. I had the cabbage that was also cooked to perfect and a small serving of mac n cheese that clearly was made love. I saw the smothered chicken, fried pork chop & collard greens but did not try those. They also ask if you would like dessert which happened to be strawberry cake, key lime pie and something else that escapes me now. I declined but saw the desserts as they were bought out to the tables. They were very pretty!! Lastly I had the lemonade which was too sweet at first but sooo very good after I added water. When I visit Hendersonville NC again this will definitely be on my to do list.
This place is a real hidden gem. If you love your food with flavor. This is the place to go. This is grandma’s Sunday dinner kinda place.
1st time at this establishment & it DID NOT DISAPPOINT! I ONLY wish I'd gotten to try them earlier! I'LL DEFINITELY BE BACK!
I wanted real southern comfort food, and this was beyond what I could have expected. It didn't disappoint! The food was so good and the service amazing that I felt like I was invited to a friend's house - a friend who was a chef. I'm not normally a fan of potato salad, but I couldn't stop eating it. And the chicken, just wow! Cozy spot for amazing real food.
Awesome people! The food was really good! Price was a bit high, but not to unusual for southern BBQ places. It's run down but really rustic. We were on the road and wife wanted livers and they had livers!!! The waiter was on point and really took care of us! We will go back!
Good southern comfort food. The first two times we ate here it was fantastic. The last time the buffet was low on choices, lots of beans but no greens. Mac and cheese was delicious, large fried pork chops, great chicken. Salad bar was good. The tea was the weakest I have ever tasted, both the sweet and unsweet. Had to ask for refills. May just have come on an off day. I would definitely try it again.
Being greeted by the grandson Apollo made my day. Want real southern food eat here. We will come back when we are in town delicious. Waitress so sweet.
Daddy D's is SO good! We have been there twice in the last month and both times it has been the best home cooking we have had eating out in years. LaTanya is the best waitress and the entire family that owns it/works there are really nice people. Highly recommend their fried catfish, black eyed peas, fried okra and corn bread. Also their fried pork chops and candied yams. Hmmmm!
This restaurant is locally owned and black owned. Come out to support the community. Best soul food in town hands down. It puts a lot of the southern food in the area to shame but that's no surprise when it comes to soul food versus southern food, soul food always wins. Daddy D's Suber Soul Food is amazing, it's easy to see why this place is an institution in it's area. It's conveniently located in downtown Hendersonville in the historic 7th avenue district. There is a soul food buffet at Daddy D's which should be enough to sell you on eating here. The food here is outstanding and the staff is friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I highly recommend this local business!
The food here was delicious. Service was great!!! We had a conversation with the employees and they told us the history of this place. I'm glad it has servived especially since the pandemic made other businesses close down. If you want to have a good meal you have to come here. Very friendly staff 5 stars out of 5
