A perfect dinner
My husband and I had a wonderful dinner there.
Chef Olivier was out greeting customers with his very warm personality and great sense of humor.
The atmosphere is modern and elegant, yet cozy and not flashy.
There were so many interesting choices on the menu we decided to give him free rein with a 5 course tasting menu.
We were served a lobster bisque, butternut squash "bonbons" (raviolis) in a cream sauce, seared scallops on a bed of lentils, tender lamb chops with haricots verts and mashed potatoes, and creme brulee for dessert. Everything was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The service was not rushed but not too slow either.
The wine list offers a good range of choices and to our surprise Olivier recommended a wine that was cheaper than what we were about to order, and his selection was excellent.
As our meal was over and we were about to leave, he surprised us with an extra complimentary dessert of chocolate mousse to celebrate our anniversary. Very nice touch, always appreciated (and there is always a little room left for a good mousse)
I strongly recommend this place.
I went on Thursday night, for the first time. This place was very warm, romantic and welcoming. I went with one of my friends and we both loved the place. We had wine, I nice Rose’. They play Vinyl records😍. Then Olivier helped us with our wine choice. He was very knowledgeable about the preparation in food and wine choices. He was very nice and warm. We will be back again. Thank you for the great service.😊

I have no earthly idea why this place as completely empty on a Friday night. I have ZERO complaints. I am writing this review to keep the "doors open" so I can come back lol!
Order: Bone-in chicken breast with carrots, peach upside down cake and a cheese and meat tray. 2 bottles of Red wine.
The food was made from scratch and the place was very quiet and cozy. The food was well made and absolutely a French dish.
Service: Outstanding!
I send my highest recommendation!
I will be back!
Had a blast here. The waiter was very fun and friendly. The special was fried chicken and macaroni which I would totally eat again.
2021 update. The staff here continue being friendly and funny. The to go wine are delicious
Amazing food and experience. Every dish was superb. Esp. this Risotto with shrimp, Swiss chard with garden basil and Japanese purple sisho (from the front garden!)
The owner, Olivier, was such a delight. Due to the coronavirus, you can tell the restaurant has gone through drastic changes. Olivier was our waiter and chef. After lunch, I bought their wine as well. Excited to come back again soon and hope to see this place thrive. It deserves to.
The people here are amazing and so is the food. They were extremely accommodating on NYE and the atmosphere was positive and welcoming. Melt in your mouth dishes$
The cheese burger was excellent. The knowledge of wine was great, and they were serving Crawfish. The cook for the Crawfish Ross, was asked to come in on the weekends just to cook those fine Mud Bugs.
Steak Tartare// $14
Blue cheese Burger// $11
This is the burger of legends. My mom has been able to get blue cheese haters to convert after they've encountered Chef Olivier's burger. Extremely earthy, even an amateur cheese snob could identify that this is a cheese with body. And that juicy patty. *drip *drop. Oh so juicy. You can even see it in the video on my Instagram @hiddenfoodgems. I'm salivating now just recollecting my memory of the meal. A high-class burger with seasoned skinny fries and for only $11? Once you eat it you'll know you're getting a steal.
If you're really feeling like a carnivore and want to treat yo self, go for the steak tartare. Perfectly crunchy crostini, a fresh green, and delicious raw meat tossed in parmesan and what seems to resemble a light mustard tarter type sauce.
Oh and his pasta. So so so beautiful. Handmade with pure patience and love. One version is adding 2 different kinds of curry to create glistening golden tagliatelle. Or even a sage pasta made for ravioli containing herbed goat cheese. And my god can the man really merger pasta and butternut squash.
P.s the lobster bisque is also incredible there's the summer and winter version. Both are impeccable and incredibly different. It's mind-blowing what a little cream and just the difference between a french lobster vs a Canadian one. My preference is the winter once, it's so silky with a spice that seeps in. With every gulp, I imagine my self-bathing in it.
Very good food. Fresh bread service was hot and tasty paired with olive oil and herbs. Excellent Lobster ravioli was homemade. Roasted chicken breast with chick peas may sound plain but the seasoning and sauce was very good. Paired up with a nice wine. Service was quite attentive. Atmosphere was very nice for our date. Was a bit skeptical as
We walked in because it was quiet. But will definitely go back soon.
Chef Olivier is absolutely amazing! Avondale retails wine which is great to buy and take home. Prices are really good and the selection is vast. Don’t miss this hidden gem. It’s a five star for sure.
