We very much like this deli. They carry some wonderful produce of Estern European and Caucasus origin. We shop there at least once every week for several years now. Among our favorites are items cooked by Sveta, the store owner, like meat blintzes, salads, and especially malosoleny pickles. The deli is conveniently located off Braiswood and Chimey Rock and the ambiance is very friendly. Highly recommend.

We enjoyed looking at all the stuff from Russia and Europe. My wife and I picked up a few chocolate bars and wafer cookies. The chocolate was very good. The wafers were stale. We'll be back for more goodies.

We went on detour just to come eat at Golden Grain, and it was absolutely worth it! The food was great; we ordered plov with Korean carrot and honey cake for desert 😋. Everything hand-made and fresh. Real Uzbek rice, grain to grain, imported, of course. Staff was super friendly, the owners cme and talked to us and made us feel welcome . Highly recommend!

6/18/23 We went back to this wonderful store today and loaded up on unique, high quality REAL food. This is not a convenience store, nor an American cookie cutter chain. We absolutely LOVE the owners - they've owned this store for 22 years - and, if you are a proper respectful customer, they will offer to help you choose the perfect items. We have shopped here for many many years and will continue to until we are no longer able. Don't listen to the negative reviews because if you do you'll miss out! I LOVE THIS STORE! Healthy REAL food. They offer frozen, packaged, a deli, and fresh produce. The owners cook and bake home cooked dishes that are mouthwatering. I recommend this store highly.

Visited this store for a friend who's from Eastern Europe. A small store, but wide selection of food products and hand made gift items from Russia and beyond. They have a deli and also make cakes by request. If you're looking for familiar products from the region, or want to try foods you haven't had before, check this place out! Very friendly owners and great hospitality!

I visited this store as one of my coworkers asked me to try their honey cake and I was blown away! I definitely bought the honey cake as well as the chocolate cake and both were delicious! The owner was very nice and took me around the shop, showing me things and explaining. I ended up buying a whole bunch of things and everything tasted very good. I will be going back for sure.

Solid place! The older couple that own/run the store are rude in an adorable old school kinda way which really adds to the atmosphere. But overall, the dumplings are fantastic, the cookies a tasty, and the cottage cheese is my favorite breakfast item during the work week.

When I need to be transported back in time to Russia, a trip to Golden Grain is in order. They bring in real Russian and Ukrainian black bread. They have REAL Russian sour cream which is unlike anything we produce. It's soft, creamy and dreamy and not as sour as its American counterpart. They have aisle after aisle of all my favorite Eastern European jarred goods to fresh foods from the deli. Yesterday's haul saw me buy Salo and salami, handmade pirogies, black bread, rye flour! And of course a variety of jarred pepper spreads. They have the most extensive array of candies from Russia. Takes me back to a time long ago. Though the factories have all updated their packaging to be more marketing slick, and it makes me miss the old fashioned way Russians wrapped candies in these cute envelopes. I love this place for not just the food, but also for wine, beer, books and movies. Go take a trip to Russia without a visa and pop into Golden Grain.

Best Russian store in Houston area. Big variety of everything. Everything is very fresh and reasonably priced. They had best ryazhenka I ever had. We bought cakes for my son's graduation party and they were delicious and fresh. Smoked mackerel is amazing. Owners are friendly, attentive and very helpful. Definitely will be back. We would never even bother again to go to Russian General store, they have lots of spoiled and out of dates products, higher prices, fewer products, owners are not helpful at all.
