Great Sunday deal. I met up with a friend on her birthday at this restaurant for the first time. There was a group of about 13 of us, and it was a Sunday (they offer half priced sushi on Sundays), so it was jam packed. We had reservations, so a booth was prepared for us. Very nice atmosphere; young and fresh. The bar was nice. Purchased a mojito and a bloody mary. Food took forever to come out, but it was understandable considering we were a big group who all ordered lots of sushi, and it was incredibly busy to begin with. Our server, Jordan, was prompt with drink refills and they did a great job prebussing the tables. For all the sushi we got, the bill was shockingly cheap (again, half priced sushi on Sundays!). I drove 75 miles to meet my friend here, and I am already planning on returning soon.

New guy's impression of dining on Massachusetts Ave. Being new to this area, my wife and I wanted to really capitalize on the fact we have finally secured a babysitter for our twins by going out someplace fun. Massachusetts Ave seemed to have a lot of fun places, but she was in the mood for sushi, so Forty Five Degrees seemed to be a worthwhile venture.
Walking in on a Wednesday night around 630pm, there was hardly anyone there. The music was bumping a loudy, thumpy mix of many contemporary songs mixmashed by a local DJ that advertised himself on flyers in the bathroom.
After not noticing any hostess stand, we decided to find our own table. The tables are trendy and large, but sit in the booths for a couples date and you'll scratch your head as to how best to sit, seeing as how they weren't really in logical square or rectangle shapes.
The waitress for the most part, friendly and well paced. The oddest comment of the night from her was "I used to do babysitting but now that I work here, I don't have to anymore." She seemed to be in her mid 30's. Strange.
So we ordered up 4 rolls which I can't remember, but all of them were roughly $14, which I thought was a steal for a trendy looking place at this part of town. I also talked my wife into getting lettuce wraps expecting something similar to a PF Changs lettuce wrap. Nope, they weren't. The chicken that came with them appeared to be like a pulled chicken with a sweet sauce/glaze covering it and some onions/peppers. It was decent enough.
The sushi was somewhat of a let down. Not because it wasn't expertly prepared, but more because it seemed so naked (as in, devoid of sauces). The best roll we got was one that was set on fire in front of us in its own tinfoil pouch, giving the roll the taste and apperance of just being on a grill. That was great for us. The other ones had very little sauce on them and tasted bland for the most part. My wife even had to break out the soy sauce for one of them that she ordered which is the equivelant of saying "I can't taste anything, so I'd rather taste salt."
In the end, the waitress took her sweet time giving us our $86 (2 beers, appetizer, 4 rolls) bill which gave the cop outside enough time to write us a parking ticket for the meter that we were unaware of. Thanks city of Indianapolis!
Had dinner here last night for the first time. We only ordered Sushi, and were very pleased with our rolls. Normally on the pricy side, but on Sundays all sushi is half off. The dynamite and Corona rolls were our favorites.
Great restaurant... great atmosphere for decent prices. Love it!
I ate there last night and had a great dinner. I am taking some people back tonight and hope its as good.
I recently ate dinner at 45 Degrees. The sushi was one of freshest I've had so far away from an ocean. The sharp, modern atmosphere screams with the vibe of a Miami night club while the aura is as chill and welcoming as hanging out at a buddy's apartment. Two thumbs up; this is a spot worth checking our.
Love this place. I have been going to Forty Five for over a year, at first I was skeptical, music was a little loud and half price sushi got so popular that it was taking a little long...but recently I have found that the music has been adjusted and although it seems to be busier on Sundays our sushi has been coming out at a much better time! All of the staff is very friendly and really seem to like their jobs! I recommend this place all the time...two BIG thumbs up! Way to go on making adjustments to make the Forty Five experience outstanding!
Excellent soup and sushi. I go to Forty-Five at least once a week for lunch. I typically order the soup of the day. The soup is the best I've had anywhere. I love the cream of mushroom and the cream of jalapeño (not too spicy). All their soups are very peppery and rich. The sushi is the best I've had and I love sushi. I especially love the eel sashimi. The wait staff are all very friendly and attentive. The owner is extremely personable.
Good Downtown Option. Big menu, not sure what the specialty is; the sushi is good but not great. If you can get past the noise and the big screen TV's blaring in the background it is a pretty good option if you are downtown already and looking for sushi.
Return Visit Much Better!!!. I haven't been to Forty Five Degrees in about 7 months, so I decided to try it again and was very pleased with everything. The staff was friendly, the sushi was excellent and unique, and the decor is very upscale and chic. My visit started with us being greeted at the door by our server, Donny, who took great care of us and answered all of our endless questions about sushi without missing a beat. He was very attentive and anticipated our every need. The Manager, Tim, also stopped by our table to make sure we were being treated well. It is always nice when the manager stops by and makes a guest feel special, instead of just walking by and not even acknowledging us. You can tell that he cares about his restaurant. I would definately return and plan to very soon, since we live nearby and can walk home if the martinis go down well. Ha Ha.
This establishment is everyone friendly & pet friendly. On Mass Ave its the nicest place to eat great food & people watch on the patio. Sitting outside is nice on beautiful days but being right on the corner the traffic noise is pretty loud. Our server was fantastic and the drinks are strong. This is my favorite place to get sushi in Indy.
Completely LOVED it. Best service I've had in Indianapolis ever. The place was very clean, and the food was phenomenal! Price was more than fair. I will definitely eat here again.
I hadn't been in a long time unfortunately so we went twice in 2 weeks. It is still a solid choice for sushi. I got the sophia and dynamite, both so good. Dinner mate had my fuji and playboy (the one with fire). Service is always good,everyone is really nice. And love the new decor. Will definitely be back
It was delicious! As a group, we had the lettuce wraps and pot stickers. Both were amazing. I had the lunch special with the California roll and chicken velvet soup. I loved everything!
The best sushi restaurant in Indianapolis. I’ve gone to sushi places all over. Avon has a good one, but for Indianapolis, this is the best. Better than all the ones on the north side. I’ve been coming here for years now, and they’re consistently DELICIOUS every time. Wish they still had half price on Sundays, but they’re worth every dollar.
Went here for girls night/dinner. We all got a different entree and every entree was amazing! I was not a fan of the orange chicken (not photographed) but food amazing. I didn’t get a pic of the salmon either but it was very good! Ambiance great! Friendly employees.
The sushi was delicious; flavor combinations very creative and refreshing!

Omg first time there went 4/28/23 . This place is beautiful. Our waiter was Reid and he was kind and very helpful. We got many different sushi rolls, calamari salad, seaweed salad, and a reg salad that had oranges in it. Everything was delicious and fresh. I am a fan of this place now and will definitely be back. Only bad thing is the parking is horrible. I strongly recommend to take an uber that way you can be dropped off by thee door and not have to walk a mile to your car due to there being no where to park.
