Great food, great staff, cold drinks. A great place to hang out. The live music nights are super too.
I hired McGilvery's to cater a lunch for my company. They fed a construction site of 50+ hungry guys and gals and everyone loved the food, had seconds and some even thirds. Nothing left but empty plates, full stomachs and a lot of smiles! Thank you!
Well I came back with my sisters. The biggest reason I came back was I was not really impressed with my pasta dish, but I still have faith in their potential. My eldest sister ordered the "small" tenderloin which was still pretty big. She enjoyed it, thought it tasty and nicely done. The second sister ordered a combo of a half sandwich and a cup of SOD. That day the soup was loaded potato and her sandwich choice was turkey with provolone. The sandwich was simple but she enjoyed it and really enjoyed the soup. Of course neither of them offered me a taste of any of their food. I ordered a mushroom Swiss burger. The sandwiches come with chips but for an up-charge you can sub. fries, or coleslaw. Since they make their own that is what I ordered; with the chips. Well the burger was properly prepared to the medium rare as I requested and the bun was nicely toasted but for the most part was flavorless. The mushrooms and Swiss should have given their own unique taste but they used canned shrums and I believe their "Swiss" cheese is white American. A processed cheese that quite a few joints use for Swiss. As for the coleslaw it was very sloppy and also bland. The dressing appeared to have been mayo, milk and sugar. Not at all a hit. I still stand with my 4 point rating. They have some good things just need to work on a few things. I am not a fan of the smoking but I can tolerate it for a limited time. It is their right to have it or not. It won't stop me from returning.
Today was a day of adventure. Well, maybe not adventure exactly. The joint we were going to have lunch at changed their hours without updating their web site. That is not nice. So we headed out west on 16th Street and then turned North on High School Road. After a few blocks we came across this place. There is another Mc Gilvery’s on the South side. It has nothing to do with this place at all. It is amazing no one has been sued. This place has been around with this name for more than 20 years,it changed hands about 2 years ago. We were able to have a nice conversation with the new owner. A lovely young lady with a definite sense of the direction she is heading in.
Excellent food with fast friendly service. Had the pork tenderloin sandwich with tater tots. The sandwich was huge and full of flavor. The tater tots were outstanding and cooked crispy just the way I like them. Also had some of their homemade ranch on the side which was delicious. Beers were served quickly and cold.
Definitely a friendly place that gives off a whole lot of welcome vibes. Everyone there was friendly and the bartender "D.B." (if I remember right) was absolutely amazing. He was a one man wrecking crew. He was taking orders at tables, bartending, and bussing afterwards. Guy never missed a beat and never let us have an empty glass even though there were a decent amount of people in there. Food was excellent. Fried pickles, Breaded Mushrooms to die for, and wings in mild sauce all were excellent and did not disappoint. If we lived closer, I would absolutely be a frequent flyer at this establishment. Btw - give D.B. a raise!!
Had a great first visit. Food was delicious and service was phenomenal! DB made us feel welcomed and well cared for. Glad we visited and will make this a regular place for us!
Love the place. Go every week. Sometimes 2 or 3 times! Fun games. Great food.
McGilvery's has AMAZING food. Great atmosphere and the rest of this place was VERY clean and well kept. Our waitress was Casey and she was friendly, professional, courteous and prompt. Would recommend this place to anyone who asks!
Very nice and clean restaurant! The food tasted excellent and the staff were very friendly!
Chip is the greatest bartender I have ever had serve me.
He sings with a pretty voice.
Friendly atmosphere although we had to wait quite awhile to be observed. Their food is little pricey but very good.
We ordered 10 Teriyaki wings and 10 Sweet Thai Chili wings. They were ready for us to pick up in 20 minutes and they were excellent. I highly recommend trying their wings. We also noticed an outdoor patio area and I asked if we could bring our small dog and they said we could so we'll do that in the future.
Good service nice atmosphere. Excellent wings and the Ruben was good too.
