This is the first place I always recommend to area visitors. He food is original and fantastic, the service is great and the patio is great in good weather.
Never disappoints! We've been several times for lunch, and tried them out for dinner on a Thursday night; what a romantic and delicious meal! We had a Ceasar salad, Scallop entree, and the fresh fish daily entree. All were presented by our knowledgeable waiter, and beautifully prepared by their extremely talented chef. Each dish had complex well paired sauces, and were accompanied with fresh local seasonal vegetables. We Ubered that night so that we could enjoy a cocktail and/or wine. Right as we paid our bill, the sky opened up and it started pouring down rain. The host stand gave us an umbrella to use, and told us to just bring it back any time we return.... Very appreciated, above and beyond customer service!
I came here for lunch with my aunts and sister for a girls afternoon and we had a great time. Our waiter was fantastic and we stayed after lunch service ended without realizing it and the staff didn't say anything just let us continue talking. The menu isn't large so you know the food will be made excellently and the dessert I had was delicious. From the atmosphere to the food to the staff to the company I dined with I had a wonderful time. I truly appreciate the effort put into the food and service we received!
Great food. Soft peaceful atmosphere. Took my son and really enjoyed our gourmet dinner. The beef tips with black garlic pasta was so good we could have made a meal off of it alone!
New to the area and checking out spots to eat for lunch. Stopped in here cause I liked their menu for fresh and local ingredients. I got a southwestern salad and truffle fries. MORE than enough for one person as seen in the photo. Lindsay was my server and she did a terrific job. I highly recommend this location to support local businesses and good eats!
Amazing food every time. A little pricey but you get what you pay for. Never been disappointed. Just call in advance as they cook different specials and lunches depending on day, week, or season
Food was amazing. Service was great too. We were able to try the apricot tea and a cookie after stating it was our first time and we had just moved to the area. We will definitely be back.
Let your foodie adventure begin here at Gourmet & Co - must try!
So I’m headed to Johnson City for work and my partner finds this article about 10 best restaurants to try in what was named “little Chicago” (some Capone history here). First on the list is Gourmet & Co. Open Table had no available spots for my one free night of dinner, but the restaurant website said to call them if you run into that problem. I called. Dinner for 1? Anytime? No problem!!!
7pm bar seating and away we go!
My bartender/server is excellent— busy as hell, but helpful, attentive and a delicious drink slinger.
I start w a dirty martini with goat-cheese stuffed olives. Wow! Who knew? And he made it just how I like it.
The menu had such delicious soy ding options, but I’m dining alone and only have one stomach. If my chosen specials were indicative of the quality of all the dishes, a chef tasting menu here would be phenomenal to experience.
But alas, I chose with me ‘literal’ gut— what sounded good to my belly — go local it said!
So we start with the locally sourced mushroom cream vegetarian soup - 6+ types of mushrooms with lots of mushroom bits to much on while you enjoy.
Then, another special - grouper, crispy skinned, on a bed of local veggies - more local mushrooms, pea shoots, garlic, radish, fennel, and swipe of herbaceous sauce painted on the bowl. Fresh, bright, delish!
And can we squeeze in a bit of sweet at the end?
Why, yes!!! — Local strawberry hand pie… Local strawberries, goat cheese filling, creme anglaise, and charred lemon sorbet. The crust was light and fresh, with more creamier forward (less than strawberry forward) filling and the lemon sorbet show stopper.
Wonderful! I have eaten at gourmet restaurants all around the world and this restaurant stands up!!!
Of course I needed to order the oatmeal cookie martini to sip on as I wrote this review for you. And it is a mind twistingly accurate oatmeal cookie flavor! Wow! Again, cannot say enough good things about the talent of my drink slinging mixologist with a heart who apparently has worked here 16 years — speaks volumes!
The brined fried chicken sandwich is amazing , as the charcuterie. They use the same style fried chicken on the salad. I give it best fried chicken in TN. Top 3 fried chicken in the US. Lunch is upscale and tasty! Prices are good to up but worthy.
Best food in Johnson City. A farm to table experience, where the service is excellent. And Todd is hands down a great all-round host. Be prepared to pay a little bit more but well worth it. Make a reservation!
