Visited with the owner, Ronnie, and toured his pit area; then, tried the "Q".
These are extremely nice country folks serving generous portions of good barbecue in a pristine dining room.The brisket is cooked directly over oak coals (big logs burnt down to glowing coals) that are shoveled in to large above ground pits which is more common in west Texas. The brisket has good smoke flavor; however, it could use additional spices. I added salt and pepper at the table. Also, brisket is not very tender.... They don't wrap the briskets for very long in foil. If they wrapped and cooked a couple more hours, it would be more tender. The sausage is excellent. The pinto beans are very good. The potato salad is creamy and very good. They don't make the potato salad in house but, they buy high-end good quality potato salad from their supplier. Barbecue sauce is very sweet and more suited for pork. They make the sauce and it tastes okay. Didn't try the chicken, ribs or turkey but they were on display on the cutting board and looked tasty. They close when the food runs out which I was told happens often. No complaints here. Worth a try when in the area. Enjoy !
Good stuff. So their BBQ may not be the most healthy, but it is very tasty and I'll be back again (twice already). The sausage is tasty, good moist brisket and the potato salad and beans are just fine also. No 5 star dining here with plastic forks, but you won't walk away hungry or regretting your choice !
Turkey sandwich was delicious. Similar to Rudy's. Typical Texas BBQ sauce. Would like to try the sides next time: pea salad, sauerkraut salad, beans etc.
Some of the best BBQ that I've ever had! Brisket, pork ribs and pork tenderloin were outstanding! The sides were good but, the sauerkraut salad was wonderful! I have also never tasted better buttermilk pie! We cannot wait to return!

We stopped by on our way to marbel falls the barbque was amazing but one thing that stuck out like gold was there coconut creme pie it melts in your mouth no one make it like them no one''''''the man in that business was extremely polite and kind..great spot to stop for food and desert''''''
Better use of a refrigerator. There is an assortment of smoked meats to meet your needs. I like the ribs and spicy sausage. Do not be asking for no sauce as it is meant to be eaten as is. I wished I had one of those barbeque pits. If you have never had a buttermilk pie, pick one up at checkout. It reminds me of a milder version of tres leches.

I wanted barbecue on my way out of town and this couldn’t have been a more perfect place! Very friendly and helpful staff. Ordered a 2 meat plate with moist brisket and turkey, along with green beans and cucumbers and tomatoes. Absolutely incredible food!! Delicious brisket, tender and juicy. Beautifully smoked turkey. Would definitely come back here if ever in the area!
Really good barbecue nice ambiance in the restaurant too. Been a long day it was mid-afternoon and I was stopping through Johnson City wanted something quick to grab. A lot of great reviews are accurately descriptive of this place. No frills no nonsense just good barbecue. The staff was very nice I tried a quarter of barbecue chicken along with the sliced beef sandwich and potato salad. The brisket was really thick cut and extra moist one of the best sliced beef sandwiches I've had. The chicken had a great smoky flavor nice and juicy meat and not been dried out. The potato salad in my opinion could use a little bit more egg but that's a personal preference it was really good as well. Will absolutely stop there again
Great authentic Texas BBQ. We have tried the combo plates with brisket and pork ribs. The brisket was juicy and melting and the pork ribs had a great taste.
As far as the side dishes we really liked the corn.
Great atmosphere and Ronnie seemed to be a great person.
We will definitely be back.

We ordered the combo platter (turkey, pork loin, pork ribs, brisket, chicken, and sausage) with mac & cheese, beans, and potato salad. The food was excellent! The meat was tender and flavorful. The mac and cheese was dripping with creamy cheese. If we ever get back to Texas, we definitely will come back here!
Really good sliced beef brisket sandwich, thick and juice!! Friendly staff. Will stop there again on my next ride through Johnson City.
I had the chopped beef sandwich with sauce, onions, and pickles with a side of coleslaw. The sandwich was very good. The sandwich would have been plenty for two to share, it had plenty of meat on it. The restaurant was very clean and the staff was quick and friendly.
Pretty darn good, I had the combo plate, brisket (not lean) and jalapeño sausage.
Sides were green beans and cucumbers and tomato... You need to try the jalapeño poppers! Definitely worth a try...
We just had lunch .... The bbq brisket and sausage were VERY FLAVORFUL! The ribs had an amazing crisp rub, and there are sweet and savory bbq sauces to choose from. Kayla at the counter was so very sweet giving excellent service. Well worth stopping for!
