Divinely indulgent good and a easy, warm atmosphere. The staff is amazing and the overall experience for me was incredible. Highly recommend the Mac and cheese (try it with a bottle of wine).

"Beef Stroganoff" I live near the 39th st/Volker district, and I love it. I love the diversity, I love the culture...I practically live on 39th street! I even have a credit at Prospero's Book store; they gave me $30 more on my store credit when I gave them my old espresso machine for their newly renovated upstairs! Across the street from Prospero's Book Store, however, is a quaint little bistro called Anna's Oven. I know the Lead Cook/Chef there because he's got a dog that's about the size of mine. I spotted this gorgeous Great Pyrenees from across the street and went up to pet him; about five minutes later, I acknowledged the human that it was attached to, and we started chatting. Thank you, Anna's Oven.com! What really grabbed my attention at Anna's Oven was their commitment to charity . 50% of the profits this restaurant makes goes to the improvement of a girls' school in Kenya. I realize that there are many domestic problems, but part of being American is helping others, oddly. I know that sounds odd, but when your neighbor trips, you help them up, and that's a very American mentality, regardless of the certain Xenophobes in Congress. I finally was able to drag B here tonight and check it out. Anna's is a small bistro with globally good intentions, but the staff running it is a bit cobbled together. This is not a bad thing! The lead cook, Victor, has been a Sommelier, a cheese monger, and a world traveller in his lifetime. He's been to France, Italy, and he and I always find something nice to chat about. He lives in the 39th street area, too, so I see him around a lot. It's just him and his apprentice in the tiny kitchen at Anna's, and they're really trying their best. They're even experimenting with more vegan options so they can better serve their clientele! "King me." Anna's has a really fun and eclectic environment. I think it's the perfect fit for 39th street, because it's a little bit funky, and it's a little bit home-y. The table that we sat at had a chec

Great cafe style lunch stop. Their lasagna and stroganoff are amazing (they make their own noodles)! Highly recommend!

I've been planning on eating at Anna's Oven for a long time. I wish I hadn't waited so long! It was fantastic, the young woman at the counter was very nice and helpful, I got my order quickly and it was delicious. I can't wait to go back.

New Favorite Lunch Spot. This has become my new go-to spot for lunch. Great menu, food, and service. I hope they plan to expand their menu in the near future as I am sure their chef(s) can deliver on a wider variety.

Glad I have found Anna's Oven. Anna's Oven has been on my list of places to try and finally this last Friday Hubby & I were near their location on 39th in time for a late lunch. Since it was 2 PM, there were only a couple of other tables occupied so we checked out the menu board and Lasagna sounded good to both of us -- Vegetarian for me and Meat for Hubby. First impression: The servings are very generous. Then you taste and it's comfort food good! Mine had eggplant, mushrooms and basil with lots of lovely cheese and served with a small side of grilled zucchini and a hunk of very nice bread. Hubby (who is always looking for Really Good lasagna) said his was very tasty with sausage and pork and he'd definitely make another trip to Anna's Oven for the lasagna. For him, that is high praise indeed. I also had a very fresh side salad with a light dressing that suited it perfectly.

The young people taking orders and serving were helpful and friendly. Our drinks were refilled when needed and we felt welcomed and appreciated. The restaurant lives up to our expectations and we are already looking forward to making return visits. Definitely gotta try the meatloaf and the mac n cheese. Maybe next time. It is worth the trip across town and will always be a destination of choice when we are on that part of 39th Street.

Great addition to W 39th St.. The family stopped in this past weekend as Anna's Oven was on our list to try and we were driving right by. Thankfully I got a vacated parking space immediately out front (didn't have to circle... and circle...and circle) and were immediately greeted on entering the place. Spruced up a little, inviting, nice wine selection, good choices on Boulevard Beer... I ordered the simple roast chicken with a caesar salad and mac & cheese, wife got simple lasagana and house salad and the munchkin received simple buttered noodles (and shared our salads). Everything was delicious, simple, no-brainer comfort food. They're definitely highlighting their catering chops as everything on the menu is pre-prepared (except possibly the salads) and quick to your table, just like home (from the perspective of the kids or if your mom is a caterer). There was a little moment with cold mac & cheese but it was efficiently and quickly remedied, and yes the mac & cheese is really good. My only concerns are;

- the means of ordering (and following up with desert, additional drinks, etc.). Very confusing as, at least the first time, you do not know what kind of service to expect and, since your paying up front, don't know what's expected for tipping. A little awkward (very awkward) but easily fixed and avoidable next time. Honestly, they should skip the Mixx method and do table service.

- This type of service consequently impacts the cost of the meal. The price (high end of moderate) would be great with full table service, but cannot be justified with the step above cafeteria style service.

It pains me to say those things because the food here is really, really good. That being said, now that we know their "system", we'll most certainly be going back.

First and foremost, the food was excellent and warrants a 5 star rating. The only reason I gave it 4 is because it just took forever. This is a small, quaint place with two servers working on a Friday night. Maybe they could've used 3 because they were constantly busy and running around trying to keep up. Our waiter was very friendly and cognizant of our wait time but there was only so much he could do. I had the Friday fried chicken and it was honestly some of the best tasting fried chicken I've ever had. Yes, that includes Stroud's. The mashed potatoes and gravy were very good and so was the sauteed zucchini. I definitely plan to come back on a Friday night again to get his meal. Hopefully next time it won't take 2.5 hours of my evening. I'd love to come back and modify this review and give that 5th star.

Swung by for the pot pie, wasn't feeling great so I went for Mac and cheese instead. It was light, creamy, delicious, and not overly filling which was perfect, had the best cobbler I've ever eaten, the best hummus ever, and generally stopped caring that I didn't feel well. The place smells great, looks great, and is perfect for a nice, relaxed dining experience, no rush, just great atmosphere. A friend and I are in town for a wedding for two more days, and we're definitely spending another meal at the oven.

We stopped here for dinner tonight. We ordered the Trio. I had lasagna, salad, and dessert. I personally love the small plate serving size with the Trio. $11 is a good value. Lots of comfort food to choose from. The atmosphere is homey and comfortable. 50% of their profits go to a girls school in Africa. Pretty 😎. I thought service from Dove and Liz was great too . Friendly staff.

I took my mom and my sisters here for a Saturday mother's day lunch. My sister and I had the chicken pot pie with Caesar side salad. It was the heartiest pot pie I've ever had. It was filled with veggies and topped with an amazing homemade crust. My mom ordered the rotisserie chicken with mashed potatoes and veggies. She had the 10 spice rub and it tasted incredible! I highly recommend Anna's oven. The prices are wonderful and 50% of proceeds go to help education in areas that need it. The first time I went I had the Trio: you choose 1 of 4 dishes, salad and dessert. I got the vegetarian lasagna, caesar salad and blueberry cobbler. It was all very delicious and the portion size was perfect for 1 person! All for only $10! I highly recommend the Trio whenever you visit Anna's Oven.

I thoroughly enjoyed my food and experience at Anna's Oven. I would go back for the Pot Pie alone. Loved the hearty vegetables and the flaky crust. I was glad the dough did not encompass all sides of the pie, as it so often does, it made the meal that much healthier. Loved the nonchalant of the atmosphere. When we were there they did not have enough menus to go around.. I found that part of the charm of the place. Everyone in my party had an excellent meal. Great for kids. Parking in this area is always a challenge but don't let that deter you from finding a spot and eating at the very good restaurant.

Everytime we come here we love it! The service can sometimes be slower during the lunch rush, but the food is worth the wait! Mac and cheese is our family's favorite, but the chicken pot pie is delicious too! If you have time check out any of their house made desserts! Definitely recommend this place to people looking for a small diner experience with awesome food!

I stopped in for the first time on a Wednesday evening and found a warm ambiance and friendly staff. Although I was dining alone, the server was careful to seat me away from doors/draughts. The meatloaf meal was delicious. I even gobbled up the zucchini, which was served still crisp but full of flavor. I'll be back soon!
