Ever been out to dinner and having a great night, visiting with friends, good food, then something happens that almost ruins the evening?
We arrived for our early reservation at Ruth's, since the restaurant was mostly empty we had great service,at least 4 different waiters came to either fill water, bring bread or check on us. But sadly as the place filled up our great service fell off a cliff.
The food - my beet salad was very good. Some friends had ordered a different salad asking for no onions - all got the red onions. When the waiter was told he just made a nervous laugh - no apology or offer to fix it.
The steaks were served Ruth style on a piping hot plate in sizzling butter. Now it was a good steak - good not great.
I had ordered desert and asked for it to go - we waited for about 10 minutes on it and just gave up. As our waiter was done with us and moved on. We caught him on the way out and he just said oh I forgot to put it in.
The $175 for two should have gotten us great food and great service sadly it did not.
Best steak in Lafayette. Will cost a pretty penny. But for an excellent steak in a fine dining atmosphere, you just cannot beat this classic. I've read some of these negative reviews and they're way off base. This is a first class restaurant with excellent steaks. On par with bigger city steakhouses, the only one we have in Lafayette. One tip: if you have a young one, ask for the off-menu kid's meal - steak, side, & dessert for about $18.

Based on some of the reviews I'd seen here and on other sites I'd steered away from Ruth's on prior occasions and was prepared to be unimpressed. First, let me say there really isn't a 'name' steakhouse in Lafayette and when you try and find 'steakhouses' on the various sites, everything from Outback to grocery stores pops up. Ruth's here exudes a nicely decorated ambiance that presages a relaxed dinner. The waitstaff were personable and friendly and quickly greeted us and offered drinks and hot bread. We ordered a couple of filets and they were, as advertised, prime and cooked perfectly. The sides were delicious as well. We actually did the chefs three course special, salad, entree, side and dessert, priced at about $40 per person and split a Shiraz, for about $140 before tip - pretty reasonable as usually at Ruth's or Morton's it's all ala carte. If I had one issue to say it'd be when you take the salads away at least replace the knife instead of laying it on the white tablecloth... Also, don't be surprised by some of your fellow diners being in there in jeans or tee shirts; there're a lot of classless clods on the loose these days... We'll definitely do Ruth's in LFT again.

As expected. Great filet and side dishes. Service was great and very attentive but of course you are going to pay. I usually only eat steaks at home because my husband knows just how I like them and it's hard to find a really good steak but if I was looking to splurge I wouldn't hesitate to go to Ruths Chris.
Filet on a Dry plate and Sweet Potato Casserole. Service can feel like a chain restaurant (which it is) but the steak is always good and the Sweet Potato Casserole is SOOOOOOO good.
The Ahi Tuna appetizer is best in town.
Always worth the money if you ask me.
Best Drinks!. The bartenders here are amazing. I love the pom martini and the black cherry cosmos. Delish and definitely top shelf. The food is always cooked to perfection and the atmosphere is lovely. I'll be back again.
Steak was soooo good! Definitely expensive, but well worth it. A first my steak was very tough (I got a filet), I told the waiter and about ten minutes later brought me a perfectly tender filet. So good, melts in your mouth. The bread pudding was HEAVEN!
The best "chain" restaurant ever. Ruth's has a one of a kind taste when it comes to their steaks and the same could be said for the sides. Salads and seafood is also very fresh.
Delish but to $$$$$$. Food and service is the best...does not get any better
But lets face it - for the money, the wow is not there...I can buy great steaks and cook them at home on the grill for less.

The food was amazing! Drinks were awesome! Hannah, our server was the best! The manager was so nice! I had the best food and the best service ever! I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone! Thank you Hannah for your kindness, attention and service!
Recommend 10/10. The food was superb! We celebrated our wedding anniversary here last night and Lindsay was an absolute doll. She made it an overall wonderful experience. Everyone that works there including the young man doing valet were very kind and friendly. We will most definitely be back very soon!
First time at this restaurant. Food was absolutely fantastic with a lovely atmosphere. It is a pricey restaurant but worth it as a nice treat to you and your loved ones. Also a big shoutout to Olivia our server that made our experience as wonderful as it can get.

Alexis was absolutely amazing! We never had to ask for anything. All of her recommendations were spot on. The food was perfect and the fireside old fashion drink was very smooth. Being that this was our first experience here, we will definitely make the drive from Sulphur to come back!
Olivia Rasberry was a terrific server!!! She knew all the details of the menu, made suggestions that tasted amazing together and helped us have such a great time. This was an amazing anniversary dinner for us and I appreciate it.
Our dining experience last night at Ruth’s Chris in Lafayette LA was top notch. The atmosphere was pleasurable and the food was delicious. The best part of the evening was the outstanding service we received from our server Alexis Barksdale. She was very knowledgeable and accommodating. We will always ask for Alexis when we visit Ruth’s! She is the best!
Great food served piping hot and fantastic flavor. Our server, Hannah, was absolutely amazing. Attention to detail and just the right balance of attention to our needs without being overbearing or intrusive. Will definitely be dining there again.
