Doggy Bag. I arrived about 10 minutes before closing time. The chef-owner told me I was okay to come in. No one other than myself was in the restaurant and she made me feel right at home.
After telling her it was my first time, she recommended a few dishes. I chose their Masa Frita. Three things composed the entrée: carnitas (fried pork pieces), beans & rice, and fried plantains.
Everything just worked so well. The crispiness of the pork had just enough crunch to give way to the moist interior. After squeezing some lime over the meat, it just made it that much better. I'm very much of a fan of rice and beans so I was sure to be critical about them; no disappointments there. Though what I think brought everything together was the sweet caramelized taste of the plantains. The portion was huge and for a very fair price. I ended up taking half of it home.
I really hope this establishment makes it. As I mentioned in another review, Laredo is opening its arms to various cuisines and that will be a great way to get the people out there to support small business.
Great restaurant. Only downside really is that they only serve mofongo for a couple hours a day and it's amazing. Also, they need to add Vaca Frita on the menu. Really amazing Cuban dish. All in all, though, a great new restaurant.
Stumbled onto this place during a business trip while still in the Army. It was fantastic! Love the small family own and run feel and you can tell everything was made with love!
The food es increíble! A bit on the greasy side, but still incredible.
I'm from the Caribbean and it tasted just as good as mom's cooking. Definitely one of my new favorite spots.
Sadly there's no dining in and no parking spaces...
Delicious food! Highly recommend it. I called to order and the lady was very nice and advised that only limited plates from the menu were available due to Covid. She was quick to hand me the food through curbside and the food was nice and hot. 👌 I will definitely come back and visit!!
Oh and the serving size is for like 2-3 people!
This is a surprising find, I am so glad we came here. The food was delicious. Limited selection, but it is because they prepare the meals fresh. I actually prefer that over a huge menu of food that sits in a refrigerator. Got the Masitas de Puerco with arroz Moro and maduros and my wife had the Ropa Vieja with white rice and tostones. Cozy atmosphere and clean. Congratulations on a business well done.
Delicious food yummy Hit the spot 🥰
Amazing food. The lady cooks a different menu everyday. But its so delicious! A bit pricey! But definitely amazing food!

Family owned and operated, won't find better Caribbean flavor in south Texas. Everything is made from scratch, and tastes authentic. You can get a Malta to go with your Ropa Vieja, fried Yuka or Tostones. Try the empanadas also. . They offering full line of catering services also, and can do off the menu dishes or a complete lechon! Don't skip this place. One of Laredos best keep secrets.
