Awesome food and cool, understated ambiance. The tianla tofu rice bowl was full of colorful flavors - sweet and sour-like fried tofu, sweet corn, and perfectly pickled veggies over rice. The mushroom oh ah jian was fantastic with the tianla sauce and sprinkled cilantro on top. The ginger limeade with chia seeds was fresh, sweet, and zingy and the Hey Song Sasparilla was novel but what you would expect for sasparilla. A hidden gem in Chinatown. Indoor seating and a couple of outdoor tables. Metered street parking.
Beef noodles are popular here.
Wonton dumplings with hot sauce and the Oolong milk tea were decent. Looking forward to trying out other items from the menu at the next visit.
Outdoor seating is limited. It is very pleasant though with plenty of fresh air and wide open blue sky that was dotted with red lanterns.
I loved the service and the clean, cozy environment. The tables weren't super clean. The menu choices were exactly what I was hoping for. Unfortunately the execution wasn't what I was hoping for. The flavors were just OK. Not bad but nothing special either. I was hoping for a nostalgic flashback to night markets in Taiwan and I didn't get it. The quantity was good though. Prices are also pretty good. Maybe the chef was off that evening. We'd try it again another day to make sure.
