7 Mares Caldo. I was amazed to see the most enormous tureen of soup imaginable, with a King crab leg, a large clam, calimari, half a fish that tasted like catfish ( but was billed as halibut), various veggies, cilantro and chopped onion, flour tortilla, various kinds of hot sauce, nachos, salsa and 2 bottles of Bud Light. I took enough home with me for 3 more meals, good hot or cold. The soup bowl was big as a helmet. I'm coming back to sample three half-a-lobsters (4 different kinds). Who cares if the service was slow? The little place was packed!

The score does not do this spot justice. The rating should be much higher, and it seems some of you are fools for not loving on 7 mares! we drug our hungover ass' out of bed, and thank god my la boo knows the best cure for a hangover is this little spot of joy. i had one fish taco and one shrimp taco which came with chips and salsa, and we were also given an order of pork tacos free of charge. not only is the food extremely low priced, but the food is so rich in quality and portions are great. it's fresh, flavorful and divine in every way, and please enjoy it there sitting in the la sunshine. nothing beats an afternoon delight of great food, sunshine and good company. i am daydreaming about the food as i type. so do me a favor, and get their score up! they deserve it! bravo!

Mixed bag of seafood. One of the quintessential SoCal experiences: enjoying a fish taco in the sun. If you were in San Diego, you'd most likely be doing this by the Pacific Ocean. In LA, you're more likely to be at a food truck or taco shack. The atmosphere at El Siete Mares may not be everybody's bag: lots of sun and some dirty tables along an unremarkable stretch of Sunset. But they do make a mean fish taco. On Tuesdays, you can snag one for $1, and with the portions they provide, two will satisfy (but not fill) you.
Other things I've tried have produced mixed results. The shrimp taco dorados are pretty good. Toastada Ceviche was also decent - though a bit messy. The shrimp and fish flavors of each aren't particularly strong, which is a mark against them. But they're satisfying and inoffensive. Speaking of offensive, I recommend you stay away from the oysters. You can get 6 for $5, and that should have been a red flag, but I kept an open mind. I felt kind of nauseous after eating a few of these. One in particular left me with a bad, spoiled taste in my mouth.
In short - go for Fish Taco Tuesday. It's worth a couple dollars to at least try.

Aye Dios Mio!. I love a good seafood "seviche" and this was mi bueno. I just wish that I could get some lump crabmeat in the mix? I think it was prepared with pollock, which was good!

Great seafood tacos.. I love their fish tacos. Crisp fried fish chunks on corn tortillas with a heap of cabbage, a dollop of crema and Tapatio hot sauce - a deep sybaritic pleasure. On the sinuous part of Santa Monica Boulevard as it passes through Echo Park and Silverlake. Don't bother with their burritos or shrimp items.

Go now!. Head on over to 7 Seas....bring cash....order the 4 taco special with chicken or carne asade, and 2 fish tacos to share with a friend. Be amazed every single time at how tasty they are. Be amazed that lunch cost $10 for both you and your friend. repeat.....

El 7 Mares is a tiny Mexican open-air restaurant in the Silverlake area of LA. I first saw it from across the road when I was having breakfast at FoodLab . I was surprised by how many people were visiting this shabby, gas-station looking eatery. I thought it looked so bad, it had to be good. Later that day I was reading an old TimeOut about cheap eats in LA, and this place was recommended for their fish tacos and ceviche. We headed down at sunset, and there was still a steady flow of people. We parked outside the little, neon-lit building which is placed in the middle of a parking lot, and had a seat in one of the plastic booths. The crowd was a mixture of hipsters and casually dressed Mexicans, creating a very LA vibe. Since we also had two taco food trucks on the list of places to eat that night, we didn't order much. From the illustrated menu above the counter we picked out shrimp tacos and fish tacos. The small portions were served with fresh lime to squeeze over, a

El Siete Mares (The 7 Seas) just looks like a little roadside Mexican shack, but when Victor (Mexican/taco afficionado) suggested we go there for lunch we knew it had to be good. And good it was. They specialise in seafood so you can be sure that any seafood taco, dorado, ceviche or tostada you order will be delicious.

Most delicious tacos I've hade to date and I'm on a perpetual quest for world's best fish tacos. My only complaint is they close too damn early and parking is a nightmare. Taco quality and prices can't be beat tho so 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s the individual visit to find this place to have the quick bite when we went to silver lake for an errand. It’s a super nice and serving fresh and delicious Mexican food place. The food is very fresh, we ordered the shrimps and fish mix tacos. They are unbelievably yummy. And staff was very friendly and served the food very very fast. Will go back to try other sets.

Very good food, for a very reasonable price! I have only had their Asada (Steak) Tacos, and their Horchata, which were both delicious. I eat here 2-4 times a week!!

My boyfriend and I came here over a year ago when we stayed in LA for just a few days. We went there every single day. The best shrimp tacos we’ve ever had and will probably ever have. We still think about it everyday.
