Friendly staff and quick service. I had the raw oysters, and they were great. The bartender was kind enough to charge a dying device for me too. This restaurant also has a really nice, though small, outdoor seating area.
Why did it take me so long?. Having worked and lived in Midtown for years I had been hearing that I needed to check out this place. My girlfriend and I were craving oysters so we decided to hit it up. I had heard about how good their oysters were and that they had a very extensive cocktail list, so my expectations were very high. All were met and exceeded. The food was nothing but excellent (dozen beautiful oysters, Greek pizza and shrimp remoulade). Everything was fresh, clean and well executed. We tried just about every bourbon cocktail on the list and all ranged from very good to awesome. Service was great (thank you, Adam) and we had an absolute blast. The Cove is just that, a dive that gives you much more than most dives.
This place is great! Only thing I didn't like was that there wasn't any draft beer.

It's not the cheapest but it's a nice place with a varied menu and drinks - plus good service. We tried the boquerones, the shrimp cocktail, and the artichoke pizza and liked them all. We'll be back to try more. This is a welcome addition to the Midtown/Broad area.
Great Cocktails. My boyfriend and I have been looking for a quality cocktail lounge in Memphis for ages. We finally found one. The drinks were expertly made by a friendly and knowledgeable bartender. They had a good variety of quality liquors. I really enjoyed my Dark and Stormy for which they had the proper ingredients.
We were there on a Friday and didn't eat any food because we wanted oysters and they had run out: their oyster shipment is on Wednesdays.
The oysters are incredible...also, don't miss out on 'the midtowner panini'. It has roasted eggplant and sundried tomatoes-delicious!

Smoke Gets in Your Eyes . . . So What?. First off, if you're a big baby about people smoking in bars, then stay home.*
This is a bar for tolerant adults--and a very cool bar at that. They serve the martinis not in those precious "up" martini glasses but rather in an odd but appealing shorter glass, which makes you feel as though you're in on some deep martini-practicioners' secret.
There's also a good selection of beers, and the oysters are great. Also the pizza. But the point is really, I suppose, to drink, watch the crowd, be seen, and visit those wonderful old pieces of kitsch that were rescued (thanks, Jimmy) from Anderton's.
If you're visiting Memphis, you really should try the Cove. It shares a strip with a couple of other restaurants (neither of which is a favorite of mine, but you might like them) in a neighborhood that is being coolified and includes art galleries.
* The Cove is not particularly smoky, for the record, although smoking is allowed.
Very, very interesting. To be honest I didn't even realize this little area existed-but I like it. Ambiance was cool and the place was packed-and still busy when we left at 2am, with the karaoke singers still going strong. Loved the Vampire! Mixed drink selection was different in a good way-just pricey for the size of the drinks. There was no Wednesday oyster special anymore. Ordered the cheese panini which the waitress said was plenty to share-it wasn't-but it was really good. Would like to try their pizza at some point, and the oysters they brag about-to see if they're worth the price. My favorite part was the after midnight activities, which I'll leave for you to discover-not sure if it's an every night routine, or if we just got lucky!
The Cove on Broad Avenue is a gem in the art district! Their dog-friendly patio is perfect for a laid-back hangout- even if you got your four legged pal with you. The drinks are delicious, and the bartenders are both knowledgeable and welcoming. Plus, word is- when they have live music- it's the perfect touch. Check it out during Happy Hour for a relaxing time and a nice local feel. Thanks, guys!
This place is laid back and chill, don't bring high energy nonsense here. The ambience is hauntingly pleasant, while the food and drinks are just right. It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be what it is and Memphis is midway on most of my road trips.. which this place will make a wonderful reprieve from stressful travelling. Don't ruin this place.
My favorite place to go when I’m in town! I love the old Anderton’s decor! Wonderful cocktails and food! Reminds me of my childhood and the first time I tried raw oysters. They have something for everyone. Also great place to hear local talent!
Happy hour isnt the best--cheaper well drinks only but you can't beat the service especially the bar tenders and we loved the atmosphere. They have a great Mediterranean plate and awesome pizzas plus they're dog-friendly! This place feels a lot like a local pub despite the somewhat silly pirate association.
One of our favorite bars! I love the stoner pie and the atmosphere. Dog friendly too which is great. Ample free parking which is also always a plus.
Great bar selection (green yellow chartreuse, Fernet, etc etc), great service and bartending, hilariously great rum and whiskey menu, and pretty good prices to boot. Cool decor, the bar is a boat lol. Very Pirate, much yar.
I love this place, the cocktails are great and so is the food! I've tried quite a few things and have not been disappointed yet!! They play jazz every Sunday and Thursday, and some Friday's. Last Friday Phoenix 901 rocked the house, and boy did they rock it! They were so good. I'm a repeat customer, for sure!
Came this past weekend with my sister. Wasn’t there long but the time we did spend was relaxing. Everything is open, everyone is up and moving around, very fluid. Bartenders were cool and the atmosphere was welcoming. We had a few drinks. One was suggested, a rum and ginger beer mix, the other, a simple crown and coke. Both were good. Will be back soon!
Good bar for absinthe and Tom Waits' songs. Haven't had any of the food. I love the vibe and décor.
Okay, it's been years since my 1st review. Fact: there's not a bar like it in Memphis.
The food is great pub grub - the Stoner pie is a guilty pleasure. The back patio is excellent.
It may be the best neighborhood bar in Memphis.
Great drinks, especially if you love absinthe. I left my phone by accident and was able to get it back. Superb staff
